Speak for yourself. I have only a handful of v14 Melda plug-ins including the paid "free" bundle and in macOS 11 these take up 52 mb on the drive. I've selected only VST and VST3.Teksonik wrote: Sat Aug 21, 2021 12:22 am
Installing 3200 files and over 460 megs of data for three FX plugins is just sloppy and lazy programming in my opinion.
Why no love for MeldaProduction MReverb and MMultiBandReverb?

I guess if you install a lot of the plugins it starts to make more sense ... but with just a few, maybe not so great.
Saying that, check out Arturia for really crazy amounts of installed files and folders! I never use them for that reason (+ not CPU efficient).

I actually can't run the free plug-ins Arturia has given away, as their background app refuses to run and support can't help me. Is good it happened before I bought any of their, probably great-sounding, instruments. I haven't checked the amount of space their wares take.bilrobins wrote: Tue Jul 19, 2022 11:31 am Saying that, check out Arturia for really crazy amounts of installed files and folders! I can't vouch for Mac since I don't own one but on Windows the bloat that Melda installs is easily found.stromkraft wrote: Tue Jul 19, 2022 9:31 amSpeak for yourself. Look for all the support files like this:
That's just part of the contents of that folder. It contains hundreds of files and is 485 megs size on disk. There are hundreds of other files, many of them duplicates in App Data Roaming.
Perhaps they have cleaned up their installer bloat but I doubt it....the issue first was brought up years ago.

I looked in /Library/Application Support and actually found about 100 mb of files looking like that, so it seems you're right. However, the total is still 150 mb for me, not 485. I'll try to delete them. Thanks for pointing it out.Teksonik wrote: Tue Jul 19, 2022 1:25 pm

***later***: Having now looked over them, quite few are from Melda plug-ins I don't use and some I've demoed previously.

The files are in two locations on Windows so maybe the same is true for Mac.
The problem is Melda has always installed all the preset and support files for all their plugins even if you only install one plugin.
Maybe they've changed that recently but I've seen no word of it.
The installer gives you the option to choose which plugin(s) you want to install but not what other content gets installed.
Be careful deleting content because some of those support files may be needed for what you have installed.
