And CLAP support is definitely a possibility, I think it's being implemented in iPlug2 framework I'm using for Wave Manuel

Yes, in the iPlug2/clap branch

Then MPE shouldn’t be far either…
(Sorry, I have to point to MPE always, its too much fun to be able to play expressive synths…)

Why might one use iplug2 over Juce?

I chose iPlug2 for Wave Manuel because it's free and most things in Juce I don't need anyway
Midi in, audio out, UI components (that I can customise or write from scratch) and I'm good to go!

I'm impressed with the look and potential of this synthesizer! Unfortunately I have a problem with midi in Windows 7 64 bit, so I can't play with it yet. I hope this is the lack of AVX support that you will add in the near future along with M1. Then I hope this Wave Manuel will be a great synthesizer for the One Synth Challenge round, and you'll get a bunch of professional beta testers!) I will be following this thread in the hope that you will write here when the new version of Wave Manuel is released!

Wave Manuel now works on AVX! I'll release an updated version later this week.
Windows 7 64bit I'm not sure about, I think official minimum target of iPlug2 is Windows 8. But it's worth trying, would be nice to know what happens there.

Play with it for an hour now. My first impression: great little synthesizer, great sounding oscillators and shaper/drive. Seems like a great tool especially for pads. The UI is really interesting and refreshing too. One may needs a bit of time to get used too use it but it's a really nice approach, yet I feel some elements could be placed differently and I really dislike the font. I find the filter a bit too digital; the scale seems a bit off and the resonance is quite harsh. Can't say much about the reverb other than my ears do not like it, but I can say Wave Manuel sounds great without any effects. I would love to see a (a) pan section, (b) at least one divider (1/2) added to the envelope length, (c) more lfo shapes, (d) options for different filter, (e) knobs instead of a drop-down menu for the FM ratio.
Thanks for this one so far. A great synthesizer with the potential to become a freeware classic

It refuses description, allowing only the vague approach of adjectives: dark, light, raw, angelic. Who or what is making these noises? Where are they coming from and what do they point to? What kind of entity can leave such a troubling sonic remnant?

Thanks for your feedback!noiseresearch wrote: Tue Jul 26, 2022 6:58 pm I find the filter a bit too digital; the scale seems a bit off and the resonance is quite harsh. Can't say much about the reverb other than my ears do not like it, but I can say Wave Manuel sounds great without any effects.
I agree with your criticism. The filter is the most basic resonant digital filter possible, but I feel it's usable with some drive applied (WM is mostly about the oscillator anyway). I'll be researching more filter types in the future.
The worst thing for me is that filter scale is not constant between samplerates. I will be working on fixing this next week and also fine-tuning hidden engine parameters with some helping ears. After this update I try to keep changes to audio code minimal (not messing with people's unfinished projects), concentrating on bugs and UI.
I've published the reverb code here: https://github.com/el-visio/dattorro-verb - There's room for improvement like adding modulation to delays as suggested by the original algorithm designer Jon Dattorro. But since most people will use other reverbs anyway I think it's not too urgent. Btw also some other parts of the code will be open source in the future.
The features in WM will be kept mostly as it is (MIDI learn and other UI improvements will be implemented) but there will be more advanced products with the same oscillator technology. Both fixed routing (like WM) and a more traditional mod matrix approach. I'll keep listening to suggestions for those. Cheers!

Thank you for this interesting little synth, i just tried it out, it can get nasty, just the way i like it, it reminds me a lot to Pendulate synth, gritty and rough, very nicePauliIndie wrote: Sat Jul 30, 2022 5:10 pm Bugfix and compatibility update 1.0.6 is released!

This is great news! I wanted to try this one but didn't find out until after I had downloaded it that it uses AVX2.PauliIndie wrote: Fri Jul 22, 2022 8:30 pm Great to hear this, Polac!
At the moment the plugin does not work with M1 Macs and older x64 CPUs without AVX2 instructions. I'll be implementing support for those in near future.
