Hi all,
i saw a video on youtube. At ~ 5:00 there is really beautiful and interesting Lead sound (at least for my ears). I think he made it out from a sample - but do someone know how to make such a sound with a synth? (Unfortunately they are talking a lot in the video - but maybe somebody have some hints for me).

Any synth + delay will do the trick. I would suggest Hensive/Hensive 2 to promote my friend's vst, but you could probably re-create this with something free like Iota Mini from Angelic Vibes website.

Thanks for the reply. But i struggle with a maybe more basic question. How to get that metallic - organic sound? What waveform to use is the best method? etc.

hmm..

difficult question for me to answer sorry man 🥹

generally i make any synth sound like what i want it to be. i had a bell sound in a studio the other day - recorded what i wanted and it ended up sounding like an electronic 8-bit instrument from NES/Sega Master System game because I play with nearly every chosen sound until it is unique or fits the production

i would get a basic noise generator like the 40SC thing in Waveform (if that is the synth name, i'm not sure). but getting something like that open and playing with the sound controls you should be able to replicate what you're after

personally i'm lazy and use vst's with all the sounds inside. then i fiddle with them inside the vst that has the sounds, and once it's right i bounce from MIDI to audio 💪🏽

if you get stuck with a project or idea send me a message and i'll try to help!

This will kinda work.
Needs a little tweaking. I think using a pulse and playing with the width might help and maybe mix in some saw.

But once you see whats happening with the vibrato and filter you'll see what I mean.

They sound like synth strings, like an octave apart, played with a delay/decay FX plugin

something as simple as an LFO could make them sound duller. If they aren't synth strings they are synth horns. that's what they sound like to me on the MacBook speakers.

it sounds really nice!

I had a look. The vibrato effect is very nice (and a good idea for my next patches). Only thing where i am not sure is the timbre.

Somehow i don't come close with a pulse - never sounds like the heard sound.

I know what you mean. It could very easily be some sort of sampled or made with FM even because I hear some strange upper harmonics. The pulse is more to create weird harmonics but blend the saw back in to make it somewhat more "normal".

But a regular saw isn't too far off. It gets interesting with unison too.

Don't know if it helps recreating the sound, but it looks like the lead synth sound is from Novation Peak. In the beginning of that video you can see the lead sound audio file wave in the Ableton Live project. The track is named "Peak Rec".

In another Youtube video Jonas Saalbach explains how he likes to use Novation Peak for lead sounds and pads, and in his setup each hardware synth is routed to separate channels for recording into Ableton Live.
