and that is the correct reply. we have loads of choice, who cares if a few don't work.Ploki wrote: Thu Jul 28, 2022 9:37 am good riddance. Sick of devs who rely on rosetta to market "M1 compatibility". With so much choice on the market today, idgaf about lazy devs

Yep. During IK's Grope Buy last summer/autumn, I loaded up on TrackS processors. I kinda knew there'd be no M1 TrackS 5, though given the amount of time since then, I'd hoped v6 would've popped up by now. Nope. It is their only major release that isn't M1 native, yet.
Disappointing.

Peter have said in another forum that M1 updates for T-Racks 5 is coming.
https://discuss.cakewalk.com/index.php? ... ent=364710We're working on the M1 update for T-RackS 5 first so that's coming before any full version release.

Yep. 5.9.1 isn't going to M1 Native.
But this by Peter is interesting:

? Niche is over selling it. Yes every small time plug in developer jumped on board with intel, but I never felt left out because I couldn't use all the Synth Edit synths on my PPC machine, especially considering Cycling 74's Max/MSP had a whole ecosystem of free devices that didn't work on PC, and Zebra was AU only.teilo wrote: Wed Jul 27, 2022 6:37 pmThere's nothing to sue over. The difference between now and the PowerPC era is the sheer amount of Mac software. People forget how niche Mac was when it didn't run Intel.
I would say hardly any of us are waiting on those same small time developers, as most of them have ported already, it's the big players like NI, Avid, IK etc. who always had Mac versions of their software that are lagging.
To the topic though, Apple will 100% get rid of Rosetta in an upcoming OS release, roughly 4-5 years from now. There's some European rule that prevents them from doing it sooner than that.

I’m also pretty sure Rosetta will go away at some point. It would be out of character for Apple to maintain an additional layer longer than necessary.
Apparently they even modified their CPUs to make the translation run faster, so if they decide to drop these modifications Rosetta will probably stop working as well.

While I concur with your sentiment, I hope Rosetta2 does not go away. I have one plugin I heavily rely on for placing physically modeled instruments like SWAM on a stage, Parallax-Audio Virtual Sound Stage 2. It hasn't been updated since 2014, and I don't suspect it is going to be updated ever again.Ploki wrote: Thu Jul 28, 2022 9:37 am good riddance. I am able to use it in native Apple Silicon Studio One by loading the Audio Units version. It's not ideal, and it breaks cross-platform compatibility with Windows for me, but at least it works.
