Solid State Logic just released a new plugin X-Limit. I'm not so sure about how it stacks up against Fabfilter Pro-L or Ozone 9 or other limiters, but it seems interesting enough.

It looks nice, I'm sure it's good, but if you already have limiters... I don't see what this brings to the table that's better or different from what I have. Very nice UI and workflow though. If it had a flexible clipper on the end too I'd be interested. Also I noticed in the demo the different algorithms affect how much limiting is done to the signal, If there was a way for it to always be equal gain reduction or closer it, I'd be more included to give it a look. I think it would be easier to decide on what's best for a sound that way.

SSL X-series plugins are all pretty nice and frequently go on sale for great prices, so I’ll consider it when it’s on sale for $29. In the meantime, I’ll keep laughing at the people who buy dozens of these plugins when they’re on sale for $29, then try to resell them for $179 each on the KVR buy/sell thread.

I find that pretty funny. I'm looking to get the Native Essentials Bundle again, and people are selling them for about $100+. In this case of the X-Limit-er, I'll probably end up getting Fabfilter Pro-L instead, since I can get that at $85 anyways. This might be great to slap on individual tracks though, but not sure if I want to dip in early for it now. Black Friday might toss it down to $49 or less.cryophonik wrote: Fri Jul 29, 2022 2:44 amSSL X-series plugins are all pretty nice and frequently go on sale for great prices, so I’ll consider it when it’s on sale for $29. I like the GUI on the SSL plugins, but does anyone know if they are resizable?

Thanks. I can't understand why a developer would not make their plugins resizable these days, especially not since people are using computer with resolutions from 1366x768 to at least 5120 x 2160.beely wrote: Sat Jul 30, 2022 6:27 pmGenerally, no.starflakeprj wrote: Sat Jul 30, 2022 4:23 pm I like the GUI on the SSL plugins, but does anyone know if they are resizable?

While it may sound like a simple thing to implement, it isn't - and it could be very hard requiring complete underlying framework updates and re-architecting from scratch, and recreating all graphic assets in higher resolutions and so on etc.
It's not usually that devs just can't be bothered, or don't understand it's an important feature these days - it's more often a case of priorities and the amount of work involved in getting it done, and fitting that around all the other tasks...

Looks interesting - got too many limiters (limitless, all waves, izotope, Fire the clip...list goes on) - interested to see or here what this brings any difference from people.

I don't know how old their plugins are, but I reckon not so old? They should have included multi-res or vector graphics from the beginning. I understand it can be hard to implement on older plugins due to various reasons, just look at AIR, they have completely failed to do this for the last 3 years (of promises).beely wrote: Sat Jul 30, 2022 7:43 pm While it may sound like a simple thing to implement, it isn't - and it could be very hard requiring complete underlying framework updates and re-architecting from scratch, and recreating all graphic assets in higher resolutions and so on etc.

They have two "sets" of plugins really - the older stuff, like X-EQ, DrumStrip, X-Comp and so on, that came from the older Duende plugin collection, and they have a newer bunch, starting with ChannelStrip 2/Buss Comp 2, which were completely new.
I don't disagree with you, but it obviously wasn't a high enough priority to include. We're still waiting on them to provide M1 support too, so it's not like there aren't things that they are working on...

Studio One reports 0ms Latencey, if you hit the 'Look Ahead' button it reports 3.0ms.
It's not an issue playing guitar live.
And as it says on the video above, "X-Limit - Versatile Limiter for tracking, stems, 2-bus and live use" Which seems about right in my experience.

seems to me most devs have done this a long time ago.beely wrote: Sat Jul 30, 2022 7:43 pm While it may sound like a simple thing to implement, it isn't - and it could be very hard requiring complete underlying framework updates and re-architecting from scratch, and recreating all graphic assets in higher resolutions and so on etc.
