Is there an easy way to convert a folder of midi files to absolute notes and then saving them into the browser.
not by folder anyways... sorry.. you can only do that when working with a phrase or a set of selected phrases..

It isn't really going to matter if they are absolute to start off with anyways, RC will always convert them to relative before they can be used.

Thanks

lol.. well.. we waiting.. An update coming. The Mac version had a UI issue but was solved. He wants to fix a crash bug that I found and plans to release a new beta coming soon after that. (next day or so)

I also like see controllers able in phrase. this is a important update. also like see that there can add vibrato fast and slow and bend half bend full with a simple mouseclick in a phrase. notation software or guitar pro allow this symbols for bend and vibrato
bend and vibrato.jpg
this is also very usefull when can set this in phrase so no controller data need for the most used things

Yea, a new beta is not far off... In the mean time, if you haven't noticed, I added two new videos for the RC Video Manual..

This one on the Idea Tool - viewtopic.php?p=8498254#p8498254

And this one on Phrases and Generators - viewtopic.php?p=8502825#p8502825

enjoy!

Hi.

In the Idea Tool, working similarly to BlueGenes' recent video, I started with 4 bars of idea generation in 'Replace Composition' mode. Eventually I moved on to 'Add New Part' mode and added 4 bars at a time out to 32b.

Then I went back to 'Replace Composition' mode and on the next generation I was ratcheted back to having a 4 bar composition. This is not what I wanted or would have expected (which was a regeneration of the full 32b current length of the composition).

Eventually I realized that I could manually move up the Bars setting to 32 before regenerating.

OK, that's the work-around - to mentally keep track of your current composition size and manually reset the Bars setting whenever the current composition size has changed.

However, for speed and accuracy in the workflow, I suggest that this manual bookkeeping and resetting could/should be made unnecessary. If I understand correctly, this could be accomplished by tweaking RC to update the Bars setting in the Idea Tool whenever generation in the 'Add New Part' mode takes place (and thus alters the composition length).

Does this make sense to others?

BTW, the Idea Tool is really cool! I'm very impressed with it. Congratulations and thanks for this!

Another IT comment:

I find that after doing a regeneration in 'Replace Composition' mode, what I always immediately want to do is to see the entire composition (or at least 32b of it) so I can immediately get a helicopter view of what the new generation looks like.

This is effectively not possible in the Idea Tool itself because the setup display aspects of the IT use up almost all the real-estate. So, what's needed is to go back to Phrase Editing (F1) to get a look.

Well, if I don't like it, I might want to revert (Undo has me covered), but most of the time what I want to do is to generate again. And again. Etc. Until I've got something to keep and work on outside the IT.

Conceptually, what would be great here is a lightning button on the "normal" Phrase Editing screen that would regenerate the IT (if it exists and is configured). Just click to generate. Do it again. Do it again, etc. until the result is worth running with.

The idea is not to have to go back and forth between the Phrase Editing screen and the IT with every desired regeneration!

Note: It did seem at first like using F1 and F3 could accomplish such flipping in a fairly rapid fashion. However, for some reason (bug?) F1 and F3 did not take long to become grayed out and useless. (PC, Win 10). So, what would have been the work-around doesn't work (here).

Hence, might as well just make IT generation a one-click (or keystroke) operation from the Phrase Editor (main) screen. I think that's as Rapid as it could possibly be!

Well, now F1 and F3 are working again. I'll take it! (but please keep an eye out for a possible intermittent bug with this)

Q: Does the user have any way to control the frequency of the chord changes when regenerating via the IT?

Post

How about being able to use the IT to regenerate just the selected portion of the timeline?

If this were combined with IT generation from the PE screen, the entire composition could be very rapidly auditioned and re-generated to perfection!

Post

I notice that if I shorten the full length of the composition by dragging the right-bumper to the left, this does not shorten the selection on the timeline (e.g. if the timeline was previously selected to the full length of the composition for looping purposes).

This leaves me with an invisible loop length longer than the current length of the composition itself. And this means having the loop ON (with the intent of having the full composition loop) does not work correctly.

Offhand, it seems to me that if the full length of the composition is shortened, the timeline selection should also be shortened (when necessary) to no longer than that.

for this one, there is a light bulb with dots over it in the track header. Clicking that will exclude from regeneration. But, this may not be what you really want..

I suggest watching yellukans videos, pretty much all he ever used. they are lengthy, and no commentary...
