@JO - seems perfectly reasonable to me. I have no problem with that.

Sounds fair enough to me. I agree with the Doctor.

i know and i wouldn't have done it this way if there would have been a way for me to install this plugin onto my actual system. i even asked here for help but it didn't succeed/there was no answer. to take part in this month's challenge, i decided to reactivate my old setup which gave me a hard time due to the old dual core processor and the limited power (can be heard). without reading back the book of rules i think i can remember that bouncing is allowed if the system is to weak to perform properly. the mixing and mastering on my actual machine didn't alter the original sound to the unrecognisable extend mentioned in the rules.

i leave it to the admins of this month's challenge wether or not i will be dq'ed this time and accept whatever happens, and i hope everybody else is fine with it as well.

The rules are clear on this point:
"Audio must not be touched at all once it leaves the DAW (i.e. after bouncing a track or a stem). For example: One cannot master the audio in another software or service."

How will the track sound without any of the effects used in the second DAW?

Here is my submission. Brutal feedback please!

I tried to make a bit of glitchy percussion. It's not quite as cool as some of the stuff I have heard that made me want to try it, but I feel like I did OK, considering that normally you would use some kind of buffering plugin, but I had to do it all with a combination of the sound design and spamming notes.

The CPU efficiency of Synth1 is seriously impressive. 36 instances and my CPU usage rarely got above 3% - cf. Kontour (a Reaktor synth, which I used in the any synth round) which used almost 3% per instance.

Work time: 28h.

Plugin counts:
- VST3: OrilRiver (Denis Tihanov) x1
- VST3: TDR Nova (Tokyo Dawn Labs) x1
- VST: ReaComp (Cockos) x2
- VST: ReaEQ (Cockos) x2
- VST: ReaLimit (Cockos) x3
- VSTi: Synth1 VSTi (Daichi) x36

Working with Synth1 is like meeting an old friend. You know exactly what to expect from it, yet still it can surprise you with something new. I stated my whole music making hobby five years ago with this instrument. I even found my old presets, created in 2017, which I used in this track. Some of those sounds still couldn't be matched by commercial instruments. There is some magic behind the code of Synth1, especially in the effects section. I definitely could make a whole album with it.

And it also can make one of the most realistic electric guitar sounds (among free software).

39 instances of Synth1 used. Some instruments were created by layering two or more instances. All sounds from "initial sound".

Some commercial FX were used.

Going to hazard a guess on that question:
To prevent participants from using multiple DAWs solely for the FX that come with those DAWs ?
Would make sense to me.

I dragged my foot with Synth1 because, to be honest, the UI didn't exactly inspire creativity in me. I'd known about the synth for years but I guess the hypocrite in me likes nice, shiny, sexy beasts like Serum and Sylenth1, especially with the various skins I use. Still, I d/l it today after all these years and gave it a whirl. Indeed, it sounds good and is a walk in the park to program. Alas, I was rushing to make the deadline, thought the song I came up with was meh, and chucked it. I'll see next month what the new OSC is.
If you can't dazzle 'em with brilliance, baffle 'em with bullshit.

I joined OSC one round too late to join the previous Synth1 round, so here I am now, with 4 years more experience to make me aware of how rough this mix is. Really I'm just happy to have time to make music right now, and what happens from it doesn't matter to much.

Is OSC hype waning? The last Synth 1 thread had twice as many pages by the 30th and much more submissions.

I might start promoting OSC off-site for some revamped attention.

Hi all,

When I saw that Synth1 is the snyth for this month, I knew I have to make a track. Synth1 feels like an old friend of mine, capable of making amazing sound in great variety.
The second great thing in the last weeks was the first light of the James Webb Telescope. As an astrophotograper I couldn`t wait to see them. And I was not disappointed. So I combined those two things by making a track to celebrate those first images, reflecting their beauty and magnificence.
