I mastered my earliest stuff to cassette and then later to day straight out of my Mackie with one PA graphic EQ and a stereo analog cheapo compressor. I would also do a bounce to digital stereo WAV for longer term storage. It wasn't even "mastered" in the strictest sense, but I did ride the levels and adjust the EQ between tracks.

a little bit offtopic but some interesting trackers stories:
Jesper Kyd (well known media composer) was a tracker, Adam Skorupa (Witcher's 2 composer) was a tracker, Raphaël Gesqua (film composer) was known as Audiomonster in his tracker days, quite a few others composing for media for a living as well.

Also trackers were very popular in underground scenes of hardcore/speedcore (Bloody Fist Recs, Destroyer, ANC, Pain Allience, Mascha recs and so on), breakcore and the like

for sure 90s Amiga scene was a lovely mixture of nerds and weirdos

It really was... and still is - whole demoscene. Assembly 2022 (30 years of assembly!) in two weeks. I'm just doing some graphics, 3D and mastering one song for the pc democompo

Hm, I think that depends on what computer/platform the production is ran but .. no I dont think so

Anyway the OCS Amiga products seem still quite small like one to two disks or so. Not much space to do animations

I am curious if those who created these tracks tried to do a basic mix and mastering in some way?

I downloaded a Fast Tracker 2 clone but due to the lack of appropriate tools it is impossible to do.
Of course I can convert my track to wav and throw it into a modern DAW but it won't be the same as in the 90's.

I mean only people who created music at home and did not have the opportunity and connections to be able to use a professional music studio.

I haven't read the comments, but to the original post, yes. We did it ourselves in the 90's

oh yeah! DAT before going music house (tottenham, north london) and pressing records

there was more money selling physical units than streaming. that's why i just sell the beat - royalties from streaming isn't worth anything these days. it's so bad Dr Dre made an album and sold it to rockstar games

it's in grand theft auto and explains why our favourite producers don't produce for commercial sales as much these days

ah man.. i'm gonna check Atari prices

Did home producers mix and master tracks created on trackers in the 90s?
