Nope. I would have probably given up playing about 20 years ago, if I didn't have a DAW.

Absolutely. Started that way. Took transcription and preparation of manuscript in school. It's not as hard as people might think but it does require practice. And, it forces you to work in your head.

No, probably not. My music is primarily about sound, not about notes....

No. Might be interesting to try, though. I don't bother with notation. I can read music. It's just not the way I write, when I'm writing anything at all.

My iPad mini isn’t less portable, but needs some charge from time to time…Jafo wrote: Tue Jul 19, 2022 7:17 pm Yep. Did before, still do, will continue to do. A notebook is more portable than a DAW, after all.

I was in college back in the early 90s and we had Apple computers in the music lab. So we did do notation on computers. But it’s still usually faster to do it by hand, at least for sketching. Notation software has got be the worst in class as far as usability goes.THE INTRANCER wrote: Tue Jul 12, 2022 3:23 am I guess if you were locked up in prison, you would have no choice....but I do remember my days stuck in a classroom in the early 1990s where writing music by hand was sort alike a form of torture for me personally. There were no computers in sight, let alone a DAW on an Atari ST.

Why do you rise, every time? Why not just scroll past?Teksonik wrote: Thu Jul 14, 2022 10:28 pm Would you write more music if you didn't waste time creating so many silly threads on an internet forum?
To the OP - no. I can’t read or write music. I either play from memory or my daw records midi inputs.
I wonder what happens if I press this button...
