Why make anything? Why bother?

And I don't ask this to shut people down, but to find my own way through the clutter and futility.
So why make tracks, why write, why make images and publish any of those when there is a blizzard of other stuff out there?

So you don't go around stinking like a homeless person? Who'd a thunk it?

I can't tell you why you should bother but for me it's a simple extension of my love of music and the catharsis it has given me since I discovered music I actually connect with. I almost feel like I don't have a choice, it is something I have to do. There is stuff that builds up inside that needs a release and music provides that. Without it I'd eventually go postal.
There's also an element of personal challenge, to make every live show as good as it can be and to try to make the next album better than the previous one. The latter is something I think we have achieved over our five album history, but my current fear is that we may have reached our pinnacle with the last one, because it's actually a lot better than I thought we were capable of, and I'm not sure we can do that again. That is now a whole new level of challenge that (hopefully) pushes us forward.

I look at it like this.
If you want to do it, then do it with some spirit, some gusto.
Don't always think, "why the hell am I wasting my time, I wont get signed" or "im not that good" or some other self defeating reason.
Like choices made in life, many will be done for other reasons then success or monetary compensation.
Some are done for joy, some are done to enrich the soul, some are done just because they are interesting.
If you love music and music production, do it.
Otherwise, there are lots of other things to do.
But if you choice to do, enjoy it.
That's what I am saying......

Passion = character building.
For most of us we heard some music that inspired us at some point and we had to be a part of it.

Look at what is different and unique and express that.
Yes, there is a ton of music/images before you, but only you can discover and express that which is uniquely you.
And that you can do better then anyone else..
