2 weeks ago i was playing live with a mini pc and a yamaha ex5.
I used Ableton live 4 for the first time on stage and know what ??? live crashed when i was playing.
it was a clean pc and i was just using a few vst (never had problem with them with cubase sx1)
I dont wanna use cubase for live stuff becose its not very user friendly for that kind of stuff.
Ive tryed the demo of energyxt and i was very impressed but after playing with xt for a few days, xt didnt seems to be extremely stable (a few crash).
My Windows is extremely stable (never had a crash for noreear) and i was wondering if there is something i can use for live stuff and not wondering about stability?
Thanks for any advice

Reaktor has many studio/sequencer ensembles that are geared towards live playing if you can wrap yourself around it's distinct interface.
Reaktor is also very stable I might add.

Strange? I and many others I know have used Ableton without crashes?
It always best to give it a "test" run with all the VSTi's you are gunna use, because some of them have been known to crash Live, but thats strange?
I would consider it one of the most stable progs around IMO. I have had just about every other program crash 2x as much as Live (which hasnt yet)....
Reaktor would be cool? Never thought about that one...

Never had any crash, never problems of any kind, never nothing of nothing.
Just music and fun.
Love it!

Live is very stable on my WinXP PC. As is FruityLoops. Crashes are likely the fault of a less than optimal VSTi or VST. Don't use any plugin Live that you haven't punished at home.

I use fruityloops as a host when I play live. It behaves very well. I'm nervious because I just installed version 5 and I'm playing this saturday. I dunno how well its going to behave. I'll come and post after to let you all know how it went.

Well. i guess i will have to check memory, last time i had instability prob was a memory prob but that time the whole system was going down.
I did the memory test with the utility microsoft provided for memory testing and everything seems to be fine.

Do you have your computer optimized for Audio Recording? Do you have updated and stable audio drivers? Are you using a good audio interface (soundcard)?sovietpop wrote:2 weeks ago i was playing live with a mini pc and a yamaha ex5.

It's easy to blame the program but to be honest with you it doesn't get any better than Ableton Live 4 for Live playing with or without bands, DJing etc. Especially when you mentioned the other program you used didn't seem to stable either. You could also have bad hardware in the system, you mention that your system is stable, what makes you think it's so stable? Have you ran diagnostics on RAM, CPU, Hard drives, Motherboard, Video Cards, etc. I have almost never had a crash with Ableton Live unless it was some cheap VST I was trying to use.

I use ORION Platinum - its bulletproof. I could install it on anything and it would just work.

I must agree here, you should look for some hardware failure on your pc or 'bad' vst or vsti.
I used Live for hours on stage and NEVER had a crash with it. Since a couple of weeks I use EXT allso live and until now it never crashed either. Both run on a HP laptop with XP optimized for audio.

I'm sure you're aware of this but:xt didnt seems to be extremely stable (a few crash).
When using EXT live it is advisable to not use all the beta. Best thing is to stick with the last stable release. Now: 1.2.9
Unless (of course) you have extensively test the release you plan to use.
