New version of JDTools: https://github.com/sagamusix/JDTools/releases/tag/v0.9
Now that I know what the JD-08 backup format looks like, this version can really read files from the JD-08. Two caveats:
- The JD-800, JD-990 and the JD-800 VST can only access the first 64 patches, Zenology can access all 256 of them. In a future version, splitting these files into four individual files for each bank will be possible.
- Whether the files created by the tool can be read by a JD-08 remains to be seen.

All banks from BobbyBlues' page converted to BINOrionAlpha101 wrote: Mon Aug 01, 2022 3:28 pm maybe you can convert the banks and make them visible on your page?
Note that some of those banks appear to use ROM card waveforms, which are not supported by the plugin. The conversion log can be found in the zip file to see which patches are affected (look out for "LOSSY CONVERSION")

Thank you so much for this.sagamusix wrote: Sun Jul 31, 2022 9:00 pmAaaand it's done!sagamusix wrote: Mon Jul 25, 2022 7:35 pm I recently started writing a JD-800 / JD-990 patch conversion tool, and I'm in the middle of adding support for the JD-800 VST to it (to convert SysEx to BIN and the other way around). Does anyone know if the BIN files from the VST plugin are compatible with the JD-08 or is that yet another format?
https://github.com/sagamusix/JDTools/releases/tag/v0.8
The JD-800 VST's .bin format is now supported.
Now, a request. Can people point to some free SYX sources which they advide to get?
EDIT: I already saw some published. Thanks to all who did that

Is the JX8P ACB not happening?
Not to sound ungrateful about the Jupiter 4, which was a nice surprise, however the 8P is my most wanted Roland emu right now.
The Zenology version sounds good, but I want one to plugout to my System 8

Possible jupiter 4 bug, which maybe I didn't notice before: when choosing some of the new presets, it comes up with the ensemble effect on. But if you turn it off and back on, it sounds differently (and this is different for different presets - the background noise of the ensemble is noticeably louder (e.g. BS - Kith for example). However, it's not that the graphic is just not reflecting the preset - if you pull up the preset, and then turn off the ensemble, the noise does drop a little, and then turning it back on, the noise comes back but louder.
This is just a really noticeable case, which makes me wonder what else might not be restoring correctly. May not necessarily be an issue - when I save this preset myself, it seems to not have this behaviour (i.e. if i save a patch, it seems to recall it correctly), but it's weird.

I’m 1000% with both of you, but if they haven’t by now - I suspect we won’t ever get it for our System-8. The fact that they did the Jupiter-4 instead is just mind-boggling.[nx] wrote: Tue Aug 02, 2022 6:47 pmI'm 100% with you. I didn't notice that until you mentioned it. It seems what's happening is when you turn off the Ensemble with the on/off button, then switch it back on, the setting for its level at the bottom right is all the way up versus e.g. 20% or so. It doesn't remember the last setting it had.chroma wrote: Wed Aug 03, 2022 4:07 am Possible jupiter 4 bug, which maybe I didn't notice before: when choosing some of the new presets, it comes up with the ensemble effect on. In the meantime, JDTools has received a couple of updates, which among other things correct some small conversion inaccuracies. The file linked above has been updated with freshly converted patches.sagamusix wrote: Mon Aug 01, 2022 7:27 pm All banks from BobbyBlues' page converted to BIN

Hi, friends. Brian from Roland Cloud here. I have tested and reproduced this issue. We have sent the results of testing to our engineers to address within the instruments. Thanks for letting us know!Examigan wrote: Thu Aug 04, 2022 1:03 pmI didn't notice that until you mentioned it.
