Hello,
I'm always looking out for a compressor on my master buss that just evens out the track and pushes the audio firmly into the speakers (i love that kind of sound, which feels very professional / 'radio ready')
I was trying Overloud's Dopamine yesterday, and I was blown away by its compression!!!
It just gives that final evening out punch to your mixes!!
Can you please help me out in finding similar compressors which would give me such a sound??
Warm regards.

If you really like it why not stick to it?
Anyway, Audiothing has this "Type A" which is similar to Dopamine and it's a bit cheaper.
Also, though is not a copy of Dopamine or the Dolby A trick... it's a very useful exciter that happens to be free... It's been out for years and it's been recently updated. Worth taking it for a spin.

Thank you escalona. I can stick to it but i needed a dedicated compressor with similar results without frequency adjustment.escalona wrote: Sat Aug 06, 2022 2:56 am If you really like it why not stick to it?

There has to be a compressor that can achieve similar results right?
Anyways I'll check out the plugins you mentioned (but I'm more interested in Dopamine's compression character)
Thanks for your reply.

DOPAMINE isn't a compressor, though.
It's a model of the Dolby AN-180 and Model 361 noise reduction per-emphasis units.
My favourite buss compressor right now is the Brainworx Townhouse Buss Compressor.

You could roll your own in many DAWs using this recipe (it's reasonably close to multiband compression but the two top bands overlap) https://www.soundonsound.com/techniques/bright-idea
There is the free Slate Fresh Air which also uses the dolby trick for high end lift.

Even though it's not a compressor, it has a great mastering compression character to its sound. It even has a "Comp" knob which controls the dynamics.
So I was looking for that kind of compression character which really gives your mixes a well rounded, evened out sound.
Btw, I love Townhouse!!

Given your description and that you like what the multiband processing in Dopamine does to your sound, you might also like this on your master bus https://www.softube.com/drawmer-s73
