OK So there are quite a few on the market now :

Gulfoss, Soothe 2, Smooth Operator, TEOTE, Reso, DSEQ3

It seems, from what i've been reading, they all pretty much suit different situations.

Gulfoss seems better used on the whole mix
Soothe 2 on tracks or groups same as Smooth Operator
TEOTE seems nice on the whole mix too.
Reso seems specific , so maybe just for tracks or sound design.
DSEQ3 apparently is really versatile , but needs a lot of programming.
TDR Nova GE , not heard of that, so open to input.
MSpectralDynamics , another that was mentioned

These aren't my personal findings from demo's etc, this is what i've been reading on different websites etc.

But with this being KVR, and I value opinions here , i'd like to hear your opinions or personal experiences. And tbh do we even need such plugins over good old fashioned EQ ?

Now then, long time etc.... :D

I'd add TDR Nova GE to your list by the way. Use it a lot on acoustic guitars, easy and effective.

As above, my main use is with acoustic guitars/bass (pesky!) and on occasion vocals (never on a full mix), but I suspect you're looking more at electronic stuff?

Anyway, yes, I could do what TDR Nova does manually with dynamic eq, but the detection is so good and the bands and ratios set up automatically so well, that it saves loads of time for me.

I'll add that to the list now, I didn't know about that tbh.

For me personally yeah, electronic stuff, but in terms of the plugins themselves, I'd like to hear the opinions of people who use them for anything.

There are actually different approaches, from static EQ'ing through Dynamic to Spectral, of which MSpectralDynamics might be the most in Depth of them All. No matter what, the deeper you go into algorithmic spectral processing the more you will also loose sonically, from the original source.

I like TEOTE a lot, just for general use. I use it on individual tracks sometimes, the full mix every time.

But if you have really strong resonances it doesn't clamp down too hard on them -- it errs on the side of caution. Probably for the best overall -- I feel like I can trust it not to mess things up. But I find myself still using a curve EQ of some kind along with it.

I use a very light setting in gulfoss on lots of mixes to steal a DB or two. It is pretty effective in that setting. For most things I just use a dynamic eq to clean up larger peaks.

I'm presently looking into TDR Nova but can't recommend it yet. I believe it is designed for vocals.

TDR Nova is indeed very good in dynamically reducing Resonances; same goes for TB Equalizer 4, which is also a Dynamic EQ.

I saw the template, ill have to delve into that more, I had no idea.

Also, I am running an old version of the EQ so at least I know to update now lol
