What's your 'go to' distortion/saturation plugins?

Just had a laugh on OP's post history.
"Thanks, random internet troll.", and then quit.
Um... yeah... after you exclusively posted your own Youtube vids for more subs.
And that shit even produces 5 pages of discussion here... jeez.

Seriously, I've said it before, but this forum has gone so far downhill in the last few months / years. I'm not sure there's any decent discussions any more, without every thread disintegrating into slanging matches, abuse and pile ons. What is telling is how other forums even slate what goes on on here. Shame there's not a 'delete account' option actually.chk071 wrote: Sat Aug 06, 2022 3:18 pmAnd that shit even produces 5 pages of discussion here... jeez.
I wonder what happens if I press this button...

I use different ones, but this one is a gem. Sounds very alive, I prefer it over most of the known expensive ones. And it's even free https://www.tbproaudio.de/products/gsatplus

That is so good on Bass guitar, I know it's mainly made for EDM.Raddler1 wrote: Sat Aug 06, 2022 2:34 pm Misstortion 2.
Somehow I'm always comparing more expensive saturation plugins to this freebie.

That has some very cool features, I'm intrigued.midi_transmission wrote: Sat Aug 06, 2022 6:54 pm I use different ones, but this one is a gem. Sounds very alive, I prefer it over most of the known expensive ones. And it's even free https://www.tbproaudio.de/products/gsatplus
Thank you for posting it, I doubt I ever would have come across it otherwise.

Doing nothing is only fun when you have something you are supposed to do.

Honestly, one of the things I find most annoying is this kind of krap - commenting on a discussion rather than contributing to it.ramseysounds wrote: Sat Aug 06, 2022 3:44 pmSeriously, I've said it before, but this forum has gone so far downhill in the last few months / years. Which produces 11 pages of results. Hardly helpful.

Anyway, since I originally posted in this thread, I've been using Burier and Tarabia Mk II Pro quite a bit. Burier is quick and easy and I like Tarabia because it doesn't kill the bottom end like a lot of distortion effects can. I still miss Orion's 2-Band and AD-1 distortion effects, though. They were both simple and very effective.

And yet here's a thread discussing distortion plugins with lots of useful info.ramseysounds wrote: Sat Aug 06, 2022 3:44 pmSeriously, I've said it before, but this forum has gone so far downhill in the last few months / years. Quite useful for me as I do occasionally use distortion plugins when I sometimes have some fuzzy guitar type stabs when I do some dub. Trash has some nice sounds but I find the huge amount of choices in there provide only a small sweet spot that is usable, and often doesn't fit what I want - strange as it's so wide I'd assume it could make me some bog standard guitar distortion. Sometimes the included Cubase amp sims etc can do what I want, but weirdly when I want bluesy kind of warm fuzz for that dubby feel - my Opsix is most useful. Firstly it's great at actually producing the guitar stabs because of its FM and comb filter operators, and even with only 3 FX it seems to be able to do a half-way decent distortion too (and I can dial in a distortion FX operator to make a 4th effect and distort even the straight FM operators to make a 5th FX kind of thing).
Still, I'd quite like a standalone distortion, but don't do it enough to warrant spending large, so this kind of thread is really useful for me. I'll try out some of the suggestions...thanks.

Downloaded it tonight. Quite like it - it's very much a one-trick pony though. The clipper is pretty well it, but it has a very nice character to it. I briefly played around with the saturation and - meh. Doesn't do an awful lot, and for me if it's so subtle you can't hear it...no point in it being there. But then I'm generally not a fan of saturation anyway. But well worth the d/l for the very musical clipper. Thanks for the heads-up.midi_transmission wrote: Sat Aug 06, 2022 6:54 pm I use different ones, but this one is a gem. Sounds very alive, I prefer it over most of the known expensive ones. That wasn't the OP's intention at all, and I'm sure that you know that.kritikon wrote: Sun Aug 07, 2022 11:50 pm And yet here's a thread discussing distortion plugins with lots of useful info.![]()

Which makes it all the more impressive that most of us have been able to get past that shit and make a positive contribution to the topic. So, FFS, stop talking about the thread and contribute something worthwhile or go away and say nothing.
