Ableton Live can use more than 8, there are 3 ways to so it:
1.- Scripts, this is the complex solution and you need third party applications as https://nativekontrol.com/arsenal
2.- Use midi mapping, but this is saved for the set and it is not dynamic among tracks.
3.- Use the plugin own MIDI learn functionality, this is the most easy way for synths honestly. I use a system 8 mapped to Diva and repro, and I can use all the controls on the system 8 on any instance I open.
