Hi all can we have a thread were we touch base with reality a little? I have too many plugins on my radar right now!
Case in point the Softube CL-1b is on sale and I have wanted that for a very long time. Matter of fact talk me about of that and the upcoming Weiss bundle sale.
Silly or serious answers welcome

I had looked at the Weiss de-esser, and I still think it might be better than what I got instead--the Klevgrand de-esser. However, "better" in this instance doesn't make a damn bit of difference to the music I make, or if it does, it is negligible. Take a hard look at those plugins, and don't get blinded by the shiny features. Ask yourself, will it truly make a difference to what you create--or the ease and efficiency with which you create it? Only you can decide.
Now, talk me out of Phoscyon 2 and ABL3. I can make nice 303s with so many of the plugins I own, right?

Well hold on there, what 303 plugins do you already have? I couldn't talk you out of either of them, they are both awesome. The Phoscyon 2 in particular has some really nice quality of life features.Dirtgrain wrote: Sat Aug 20, 2022 5:43 pm I had looked at the Weiss de-esser, and I still think it might be better than what I got instead--the Klevgrand de-esser. Ok fine not getting the CL-1b, really. There's still the question of Senile Smart Comp2, and that is a much more potentially useful thing overall to me in EDM. I don't have a problem doing compression per-se, but I do find myself spending too much time with all that, overdoing it, and then needing to redo It anyway. I demoed the original smart comp and I usually liked what it was doing, it took a lot of time out of mixing. And I feel that spectral side-chain will help too.

I bought the CL-1B and never use it. Overrated. Easy to pass on that. The Softube optos (CL-1B mk1/mkII and Summit) are just not amazing IMO.Aiynzahev wrote: Sat Aug 20, 2022 5:33 pm Hi all can we have a thread were we touch base with reality a little? I have too many plugins on my radar right now!

I've bought many plugins in the last years, some of them are just usefull, but most of them can be replaced with stock plugin. I use Fl Studio, so i'm also able with patcher to make something more complex using the stock plugins.
I even made a soothe-like alternative, ofc it work differently, but it's very effective. Same for other stuff.
Ofc every daw is different and offer different options, but with some effort stock plugins are very good

Fortunately, I don't have my eye on anything at the moment, so, I don't need to be talked out of anything.
You already have it? Are you under NDA? Otherwise, I'd really be interested if, apart from quality of life features, there are any updates to the sound. Although I like the interface, I found ABL3 a bit better in that department. Something about Phoscyon 1's resonant behavior doesn't quite "add up".Aiynzahev wrote: Sat Aug 20, 2022 6:09 pm Well hold on there, what 303 plugins do you already have? I don't have a dedicated 303 plugin. I have just been using Phase Plant or other virtual synths and effects to make them. I love 303s, and I wonder how fun a dedicated plugin would be. I mean to demo them, but I always hold off on demoing until I'm ready to buy--with ABL3, I have been waiting for a sale.Aiynzahev wrote: Sat Aug 20, 2022 6:09 pm Well hold on there, what 303 plugins do you already have?
