One of these is going to save some cherished plugins, being able to load older VST2.4 into VST3 only Cubase (when it happens on windows) will allow me to keep using some older discontinued gems .
Question is , which one should I go for?
I will use it I the effects chain just to load the plugins I won't be able to (I assume they don't work for instruments ? )

Patchwork works with synths as well.
I am a happy patchwork user.
Can't compare though.

ah cool, i should have said, im not sure if the others can, no experience with them.rasmusklump wrote: Sat Aug 20, 2022 3:10 pm Patchwork works with synths as well.

but it sounds to me like you may as well just see if one works on your system, then that's your choice.
they will all do the simple task of chaining plug ins, and it's only more advanced host stuff where they may differ, on board sequencers and such?
but if you are using cubarse for all of these, then probably irrelevant.

I just demoed the Metaplugin and it was buggy as hell 2-3 years ago... I tried to get some support but no reply...
Then my interest in DDMF stuff was gone

Metaplugin works with synths too, and the oversampling is great.
That said, I never use it and I’ll happily sell my license if anyone makes me a sensible offer

I didn't like the GUI of Bidule if I am honest.
Preferred Metaplugin's GUI.

DDMF always been pretty on the ball with bugs tbh. I've owned their stuff for years.Trancit wrote: Sat Aug 20, 2022 3:41 pm I just demoed the Metaplugin and it was buggy as hell 2-3 years ago... I tried to get some support but no reply...

The gui and handling of patchwork is very user-friendly btw.

tbh Metaplugin is very similar and cheaper than bidule, and they are both cheaper than Bluecat.
So unless they are both doing something metaplugin doesn't, which is why I asked, tbh I can't see any reason to get anything else than metaplugin.

What I'd like to see in the future from Blue Cat, Bidule or DDMF is an automatable XY Pad that can be used with effects or synths. So far, only Bitwig has this capability, but setting up XY parameters to create a simple circular path in the pad using 2 LFO's is an exhausting chore.
If you can't dazzle 'em with brilliance, baffle 'em with bullshit.

I used them both (each supports effects and synths). For me, Patchwork is good for structured configurations I want to re-use over and over. Easy to setup useful arrangements and works well. Only down-side is preset loading with some plugins, can be a bit cumbersome -- but not a show-stopper. MetaPlugin is great for creative, free-form stuff and is easy to load/edit. Stable running here - no defect related issues. DDMF's Superplugin is more like Patchwork -- very quick and easy to load up. With Suerplugin, I had a couple feature ideas the developer implement within a few weeks (was amazed he listened and made the changes - really impressive). Both Patchwork and Metaplugin/Superplugin are worthwhile to have in your toolbox - just depends on the approach you prefer in terms of arranging collections of effects/synths. I like and use them both.

Nugen SigMod is another to look at https://nugenaudio.com/sigmod/
Can go on sale, I got it for $29 but I may have seen it even cheaper at times

I demo'd meta and superplugin, and found a bug in each, the focus of the opened plugin can override the DAW windows.
I had open Camelcrusher then closed Cubase, and the Save now window opened under the ccrusher window and I couldn't move it. So that would have to be resolved.
Patchwork is fine, but well overpriced for what it is.
I really hope a dev makes a bridge for VST2.4 into VST3 so Cubase will pick it up , would sort that all out.
