Why do people here hate on cherry audio?

I thought that there is almost univesal consensus that Cherry Audio synths a) sound good, b) look... not that good. Nobody is saying that Softube Model 72 sounds clearly better than Cherry Audio Miniverse, because it doesn't.

not unless theyve redefined "almost universal consensus"

"Almost univesal consensus"? That's a reeeally stretched assumption from you.Lazarus451 wrote: Sun Aug 21, 2022 7:19 pm I thought that there is almost univesal consensus that Cherry Audio synths a) sound good, b) look... not that good. The Universe told me that Cherry Audio is no good so I have to go with that.

They're not bad. Not a huge fan of their GUIs, at least Voltage Modular. I know it's a good thing to allow anyone to develop and sell their own modules on their store, but tbh a lot of them look godawful and there's no consistency in design. Softube's development is hella-slow, but the GUIs are much better and consistent.

Cherry Audio produces some of the most amazing synth plugins. That's it.
When you say "people" you are pointing at less than 10 sociopaths who live at KVR forum.
So nothing to worry about.

Its hard to beat their price/value relation, even if there are better products for golden ears…
Their quality also got better. Much much less aliasing as in earlier versions for example. After some complaints about the self oscillating filter settings of CA 2600, they fixed it! Its even better to control than that of a hardware Behringer clone…
I never considered even testing Softube emulations for their high prices… Of course if you paid so much, its hard to see something comparable for such low prices and need some justification for yourself…

I don't think $60 a piece is out of line at all for the Softube ones. I think they are very good myself.Tj Shredder wrote: Mon Aug 22, 2022 9:06 am Its hard to beat their price/value relation, even if there are better products for golden ears…

Yes, that is a good offer. But you need to buy 3 at once. And I have other emulations of those already. Its too late I am covered…

Here are some quality plugins that are cheap (or on sale) and I think I are some of the best sound/performance ratio plugins: OPX-Pro II (Now $80/€85, but you can ask for a discount and get it for €65), ImpOscar 2 ($65, but can be bought cheaper with some coupon), Invader 2 ($10+), and Messiah ($40, windows only).

I have bought many products of Cherry Audio. Still, their latest products I did not buy, even if they are on sale. Why? There is not much they can add to my arsenal. I have most of the Arturia producsts, as well as U-he and AAS. They cover my "analogue" stuff. Might be different if you start from scratch.

KVR user hate on every plugins, i never see them praise a plugin for being good, they're never satisfied that's why i never like kvr and use gearspace more, there's people actually comparing the hardware to the plugin to see if they nailed the feel of the hardware at gearspace instead of comparing it to other plugins.
