I remember demo'ing Adaptiverb, but it didn't really impress me at the time, maybe I was misusing it. What are you using it for?

Cableguys is cool, I use the Filtershaper a ton, might give a go to some more of their stuff.
Texture looks right up my alley, will definitely be demo'ing that, thanks!
Tantra is nice, but I recently switched away from Plugin Alliance stuff, and 200$ is a bit steep IMHO.

⬆️ Tantra is never really at $200. $40 max
I wonder what happens if I press this button...

The same threads over and over here, why? Do they not teach people how to search in school anymore?

I can't remember if I originally saw another KVRer say this, or if it's marketing copy that I've internalised, but the phrase is lodged in my brain because it turned out to be excellent advice: "Do not buy another 'creative' effect until you've bought Effect Grid."

I need to look into this but I’ve never really got much out of multiband multi effects

amplitude bands as well as frequency
that is interesting
A step further than having a regular gate & inverted gate parallel in a rack

I used to use Unfiltered Audio's G8 for this kind of thing because of the super handy reject outputs. Means you set up that chain with only one plug. Effect Grid doesn't replace it completely (notably lacking the 'one-shot' mode that can make G8 function as a crude transient/tonal splitter on highly dynamic material) but that third amplitude band makes such a difference. G8 could already get pretty dizzying with just two bands, but three bands takes things into brain melting territory before you even think of further splitting by frequency. You set up something that you think will be quite subtle and accidentally end up in bonkers cinematic impact sound design territory. It's surprisingly difficult to visualise what's going to happen when splitting by amplitude.

I think there's an awful lot to be explored in this general area though - pulling sounds apart before deploying your effects arsenal and recombining the pieces. Effect Grid is one tool for it. FactorSynth is arguably even more impressive though with more bouncing to audio to really get the best from it. I've been really into simple things like reversing sounds before processing too, or pitch shifting up -> effects -> pitch shifting down. Trying to think about 'reversible' processes with effects in the middle, essentially.

I did a reverse process & bounce back in w/more fx on the element in the most recent track I finished. It had been awhile since I employed the trick, but it needed a little something

Effect Grid is very worthwhile and simple to use

atomic transient is another very useful device https://www.molecularbytes.com/mbcms/in ... ctransient

far more useful (for me anyway) than any of the standard transient designers
and as reversing was mentioned I like this reverser as well https://www.robpapen.com/rp-reverse.html

Molekular for Reaktor is about as creative and out there as it gets. It's not easy to use, IMO, but just the presets create some wild effects on just about any audio material.

Same goes for Virta from Madrona. It's not a beautiful sounding vocoder, but it takes such a left turn on vocal effects that it is something I always reach for when things get boring on vocal effects.
