Searching for a DAT deck as a AD converter

I want to get one for the AD conversion.

- I don't use DAT Tape. I will use with my other recorder or audio interface.
- AES, Coaxial, Optical IO are OK. Composite-video-out-only unit is also OK if simple mod or mod kit can add other digital interface.
- Nice if it works even after tape mechanism gets broken. I heard some decks don't.
- Good sound is not required. I just want to get 80s or 90s AD sound.
- 80s or early 90s one is preferred. My studio has some 90s ADs after 1995.

Any recommendations for this usage?

panasonic SV series was the studio standard for long time. i think SV-3700 or 3800.

but that 80s/90s AD sound could've come from several places. tascam DA-88 or Alesis ADAT etc. you can find those for like $50.

there's a whole bunch of PCI cards too that people used.

you might also look into EMU or Kurzweil samplers. e-mu e6400 or kurzweil K2500 etc or even some Akai stuff.

I own multiple ADAT BlackFace and ADAT-XT. Mostly I'm using as multi DA converter to work with analog mixer.
DA-88 looks nice if I had TDIF interface.

I love sampler, I'm actually using Akai S3000XL (for 1995 and later) and Roland S-330 (for earlier).
Famous samplers are fascinating but getting more expensive these days.
