Quanta is nice but $60-70 for an update? That's the price of a full bore new cool synth - so I won't be upgrading. Seem Audio Damage has Audio Brain Damager lol . Stupid update price.

It's quite a steep price indeed, for this kind of udagrade. I love Quanta sound wise and I use it alot, but I'm demoing the V2 and on the fence still. Not sure if its really worth it.

To sum it all for you guys, I'd say the biggest changes are:
-The UI. Meh for me, the old one was fine imo.
-Right click for mod assignation. A win here as the matrix was painful to use.
-Pitch Quantization. Very cool feature, a win again here I think.
-Effects implemented. Meh, very basic effects and I'm sure most people will use their own plugin effects instead. Bloating for me.
-Another VA Oscillator for a total of two. This could be nice for some people, I guess.

And that's pretty much it guys, the other changes are very minor. So yep, quite an expensive update. I think most Quanta 1 owners can keep using it without missing anything crucial.

Especially since they don't allow license transfers, whereas their top competitors generally do. (Tracktion support says they typically allow license transfers for products that were purchased through their website, even if they were purchased on sale. So that includes Novum, as well as Biotek 2. Native Instruments allows license transfers for Pharlight/Straylight/Ashlight. Not to mention the numerous other synths that now have very good granular capabilities...)

Thank you! Very happy that you got inspired by my work

I see they don’t offer upgrades anymore from previous purchases like EOS1>2 or Replicant1>2.

original quanta is removed, I wonder if he will release as a free download in the legacy section

I don't think so, it is amazing synth by its own right, it will kill the sales of V2

All the sounds are like some dark demonic european sounds in it that can only do certain chords. I like Cherry Audio Dreamsynth for future euro pads more or BT Phobos because you can make way better things with the presets and waveforms if you figure out how. Quanta 2 is a waste to me. For making your own original presets Quanta 1 is enough.

I'd be surprised, it seems the legacy plugs are *old* old ones, small GUIs, no patch browser etc. I get the impression they moved to a more modern framework or something that can handle resizing and everything people expect nowadays. Probably ages before any of this generation of plugs makes it to the legacy section.

More than happy to be wrong though. ;)

That would be a total commercial suicide to do so

Seems like everything Q2 does can be done in Pigments.

Yes and no. Pigments is a monster, while Quanta is way more straight forward. Different workflow and needs. Purely granular speaking, grains right out of the box, I prefer Quanta but it’s way more limited. Pick your poison.

Quanta 1 would have been one of my favourite synths except it was crashville from the time I bought it a few years ago.

If Quanta 2 is very stable I would be willing to buy it.

I've only ran the demo of Quanta (1) in hopes for a good sale price. Very stable on my Windows systems (7&10) in Bitwig 4, Mixbus 7 & Cubase 11.5.

The plus for me here is that it has a Linux version. And I quite like its "character" also. Which some granular synths fall short of for my tastes.
