Hey,

Any tips to manage saved 3rd party AU synths in logic? I usually save the presets that I like or modify from a 3rd party AU synth with a new name and store it in the "preset" folder in Logic.

So if I, for example, open the Dune AU synth in logic I use the internal "save as" option in the Logic control panel for that specific synth and name the preset and store it there. The presets then get stored with the extension .aupresets

I also create specific folders for type of sounds in the logic "presets" folder. So for example for Dune synth i create a folder called "Bass" in Logic "presets" folder.

Is this the most optimal way to manage and work with presets in Logic or any other tips?

I use patch system on the left library browser, categorized by type of sounds instead of certain plugins. I also usually save it with the gain plugin inserted since I use it on almost every channel.

So for example I have a folder for Sub Bass and in it I have sub bass patches that I like independent of the plugin. I just add a prefix at the end of the patch name as a clue to which plugin it is.

how do i save my patches from 3rd party AU synths so they can appear in the library browser in the folder to the left? For example if i use Synapse Audio Dune synth in Logic.

Not at the studio but here is a screen shot I just took from my home laptop
Make sure the blue triangle points to the channel strip name, then use the save button down at the library and create a relevant folder and save. Now they will appear in your user patches folder.

There are also some advanced features like patch merging. Like you can keep the inserts but change the sound etc. Check the 3 dots in circle at left bottom of Library.

If you move the triangle next to the instrument plugin, it will save it as an .aupreset just like you do. So you can use it for both systems.
