Waveform automation clips

I was writing automation for a house track I was producing and then a thought hit me that it would be nice if
Like we had midi clips we could get automation clips for automation tracks, it would certainly make editing even more easier especially when one isn't editing node by node but wants to edit the entire automation graph, like duplicating, the graph, cutting a part of the automation away, you know that kind of stuff.
Would definitely make editing things like that much much easier

You sort-of can do this now.

Record some automation onto a MIDI clip, fades in or out, bends up or down, etc.

Then delete any MIDI music notes you recorded from the clip so you're only left with the automation data. You can save those as presets. This can work in a lot of cases.

I would also like a dedicated automation clip feature so it's easier to stretch and scale to different tempos and curves. I agree with you that editing those little dots on the automation lane is often a pain to do right now.

Figbug will likely see these requests and put it on the ideas board for a later release.

Until I had read your message, I've never thought of storing automation like that.
But as you said nothing beats a dedicated automation clip feature.
I hope it gets added in the later versions.

It's certainly not perfect, nor even ideal. I use simple versions of it from time to time, but the problem with a MIDI clip and automation is that if you try to stretch or compress the clip, well, you may get unexpected results. Also, changing the BPM can have adverse results as well!
