justin3am wrote: Tue Aug 30, 2022 5:44 pm I've been working on a PLL patch in Serge land and have had some success but only over small ranges. It's just such fertile ground for weirdness. I may just have to build a 4046 module of my own. ;)
One of my proudest modular nerd moments was successfully getting a PLL patch to work with just a regular linear VCA as the phase comparator, any analog VCO, and no slew/filter. Over a very limited range of course :D A bipolar VCA works better, and for some reason binary XOR still seems to work the best for me.

The joy of the Synchrodyne is in completely f**king up in the best possible ways but still kind of staying related to the VCO. And really, it'd be a dirty filter even if the PLL was 100% perfect. :D

Those do look fun, maybe I will have to reconsider getting one. :tu:
btw: have you considered sock puppets? I think that would be cool, on one hand at least. :)

i have kind of, not necessarily on synths, but some of my more weird video bits :hihi:
but i could combine the two of course! i should stop being so lazy and make some creepy ass sock puppets :hihi:

re the pest (and the beast really) aside from what im doing here, just look at all the onboard bits (modules) you get for such a tiny price :tu: a great way to add a couple of useful bits to any system imo.
also, surpisingly well built and sturdy, by which i mean, for this price, id have expected a more flimsy case for sure, or scratchy cheap feeling knobs maybe, sticking buttons. but they are definitely not cheap in that sense 8)

Cool, that was a concern of mine for the low price. One of the sliders on the Blastbeats is already
degrading to where I might have to replace it. It's probably more due to the slider manufacturing
than the synth itself, still that irks me a bit that he didn't use better ones.

well these id be happy with, on any price synth, for feel. the filter/fold knob is smooth as butter 8)

i wish they were paying me or i could find something bad to say about them, but if theyd released them around 4 or 500, id have bought it and been happy, and thats so far! only using them solo.
once i start intergrating them in to the whole, im sure ill be even happier :D

sucks about the blast beats though.
i had been thinking about one of those as it does sound bloody awesome! ill have to have a look if this is a regular issue, dont fancy spending that kind of money on something that may even disappoint me a little.

The Blastbeats build quality is great beyond that one slider. The rest are nice and tight. It's on the
kick drum attack parameter, one that I don't use a lot so hopefully it's just a fluke. It still works
currently but yeah, I've not had similar trouble with any other sliders on any other synths or modules, and I have a fair number that use them.

I haven't contacted him about it either, no doubt he would fix it. I only need send it back to him
in friggen france.

yeah thats a bit of a pain from hawaii
bad enough from here!

If the buttons are a mix of mint imperials and minstrels then I’ll get one.
