I know they updated everything to vst3/m1, maintenance updates I guess you call them?
I would guess those updates set back new rumoured products more than new features in existing....but that's a guess (as there has been no mention of new stuff for a long time)

No, the beta testers don't tend to get involved until the latter stages of the process and when Rich is busy, I don't tend to get any emails from him. (Not that I hear from him very often anyway.) If he wants to tell me about things like that, fine, but I'm not going to ask.

Fair enough, thanks for the reply BONES.BONES wrote: Thu Sep 01, 2022 10:36 amNo, the beta testers don't tend to get involved until the latter stages of the process and when Rich is busy, I don't tend to get any emails from him. As an M1 user I'm glad Rich supports that platform but it doesn't come without tradeoffs, for sure. Same with all updates.

I was actually just being cheeky but...first M1 machines were released on November 17, 2020. Synapse shipped Dune 3.4 with M1 AU support on January 29th, 2021. So no, it was a couple months, not more than a year for Apple Silicon support. Took about a year for M1 VST3 support, no idea why. I expect the number of users chomping at the bit for VST3 native support wasn't all that large and that particular item had lower priority on their list.BONES wrote: Thu Sep 01, 2022 5:58 amIt took them more than a year after the release of the first M1 powered computers, so hardly "timely". IIRC, it was the last of their synths to get it, each of them adding it as part of a broader update. So it is most likely just fortuitous timing, something they were able to do because they were working on the code anyway. But who knows what features were shelved for a later update (or abandoned altogether) because of the effort required to add Apple Silicon support?rezoneight wrote: Wed Aug 31, 2022 2:22 pmAnd shocking that Synapse able to support Apple Silicon in such a timely fashion.
Features abandoned altogether? Likely exactly zero since it took them about 2 months for the native build in the first place. I mean what other features were delayed or abandoned altogether to support the new patch browser or the new compressor mode released at the same time as the VST3 version for M1?

Why would it matter how much people were "chomping at the bit" when Synapse weren't going to make a dime from all that work? I can't believe any devs bother doing it as a standalone update.

You sound like you're not too familiar with how a software business works. There are requests coming in for things and they prioritize that list (or reject the request). Apple Silicon support for them clearly was higher on the list than the Apple Silicon native VST3 update. They don't need to do it as a standalone update, not sure what that has to do with anything. It's an update like any other one so you release it with other stuff that was on the list to release.BONES wrote: Thu Sep 01, 2022 1:43 pm Why would it matter how much people were "chomping at the bit" when Synapse weren't going to make a dime from all that work? And of course they'd make a dime from that work. As an Apple Silicon-based Mac owner you better believe that makes a difference in my purchasing decisions. By your way of thinking they shouldn't have bothered to release the new patch browser either or any other new feature they're not charging current owners for. I mean how do they make a dime off a new patch browser? Duh, someone might have decided not to buy the thing before because they hated the old way. Same goes for native M1 support.

You're defiantly overestimating the importance of your assertion about the hidden sync in DUNE 3.gentleclockdivider wrote: Wed Aug 31, 2022 9:23 pm
Oh for real cmon dude , now you're complaing that talmod is simple ... I think you're overestimating yourself.
Yes a 3 Osc synth like Tal Mod is dead simple and would bore me in minutes. I'm trying the demo and am already bored with it but then I have a ton of more capable synths to choose from so I'm sure that has something to do with it. If I was just starting out Tal Mod might be something worth owning.
Possibly but the number of things DUNE 3 can do that Tal-Mod can not is far greater than what Tal-mod can do.gentleclockdivider wrote: Wed Aug 31, 2022 9:23 pmTalmod does things that Dune 3 can't and vice versa .
You have failed to explain why anyone should really care and have failed to prove that D3 can not in fact duplicate the process through the Mod Matrix. Again, D3 is capable of some great hard sync sounds.gentleclockdivider wrote: Wed Aug 31, 2022 9:23 pmBut rest assured , I am not going to explain to you what windowed sync is ,don't feel like repeating it at nauseum
I will if you will. This conversation and this thread have pretty much run their course and I'm confident that the OP will find what he is looking for from all the recommendations given.

You keep on rambling about hardsync while it's about hardsync AND FM
I made a diagram of it a few pages back , the master sync oscillator is both providing sync and ALSO FREQUENCY MODULATING the slave osc .

NOw read this verry carefully and slowly , for the frequency modulation to take place the MASTERSYNC oscilator has to be a mod source which is NOT possible in dune 3 because the mastersync is a HIDDEN implemented osc .
Post a screesnhot of DUNE 3 modmatrix where the MASTERSYNC osc is a mod source that provides both sync duties to the slave and ALSO frequency modulating the slave .
I give you 50 euro's , everyone here is my witness .
NOw please stop holding onto straws .
Thinking that talmod is simple just becasue it's a 3 osc synth showcases your total lack of understanding ,.
I am waiting for your screenshot

No offense, but why tf are you obsessing over this? Does it matter if some synth has a certain feature or not? The Korg DW8000 doesn't have sync, FM, and ringmod, yet, it can do a wide range of sounds thanks to its modulation delay, crazy self-oscillating filter, and balanced range of waveforms.gentleclockdivider wrote: Thu Sep 01, 2022 9:20 pmNo , you have failed to understand what I have written multiple times (why doesn' that surprise me ?)Teksonik wrote: Thu Sep 01, 2022 5:35 pm

Edit: So Oscillator 1 or 2 modulating sync frequency doesn't count?

I am not obsessed over it
I just pointed out what I think was missing in dune 3 , then Two users had a (verry) hard time too undertsand what I meant .
ONe of which is still holding onto straws , keeps dodging the ball .
Does Fm+hardsync at the same time matter , or ringmod +hardsync for that matter ?
The answer is yes if you want to achieve certain sounds like windowe sync (ringmod +sync ) etc..
Never did I say that Dune sucks , I love Zebra Hz and it also doesn' t have a real master sync osc .
