It will be interesting to see if Komplete 14 will be announced tomorrow, as Kontakt 7 has already been teased recently. The sale on Komplete 13 is going to last for one more week, so 6th September would probably be more likely (and also that they released a new Play Series instrument today), but who knows, they could do a week's overlap. Either way, will be keeping my eyes on the NI website tomorrow.
I don’t remember them ever announcing the the new Komplete while the sale was still going. (If that’s what you meant by overlapping).

I thought it was always a month or two after the sale was over.

Of course, this is new territory with Izotope in the mix. Version 10 of Ozone & Rx are releasing soon too so who know.

I keep wondering if they’ll start adding Izotope stuff into the Komplete package.

Yeah, sales on full versions of Komplete happened after a few years if I recall correctly. So, usually, it's only Summer of Sound sale and then after 2 months, a new version of Komplete is announced in September and released in October.

This time it could be different though, since they are running a sale on full versions immediately after SoS sale was over. This is an intentional strategy. The updates and upgrades ran out of stock with most dealers almost immediately after SoS was over and then since full version sale started they did/could not stock updates/upgrades again. There could be few update/upgrade copies here and there, but it's mostly full versions now.

If not this month, the announcement would happen in October and eventual release in November. I am still hoping for an announcement this month and an October release. Let's see.

We usually get a sweetwater leak before anything else. C'mon sweetwater!

GAK (a good UK retailer) do still have some upgrade stock available if anyone is tempted to jump the gun - https://www.gak.co.uk/en/native-instrum ... true&b=112

And for anyone in Europe (other countries may be possible), check for some stock of updates/upgrades at Gear4music to qualify for a possible grace period to Komplete 14 sometime this or next month: https://www.gear4music.com/search/?str_ ... lete&ref=h

Beware that there's no official announcement of grace period yet. It will likely be there, so could be well worth the risk. To be safe, just don't register it until the announcement is made.

Does NI normally offer grace period? I mean, if I buy Komplete 13 now, do I get the 14 for free? Thanks!

It would be a brave person who bought 13 now and just 'hoped' 14 was released in an unspecified grace period when it hasn't even been officially announced!
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

The grace period usually starts when the next one is announced IIRC. So if you buy now, don't register until you know the grace period has started.

I'm guessing September 6.

I wouldn't risk buying now, and hoping for grace period... maybe we're far, far away from a release. Or maybe they release tomorrow. Who knows.

The risk is actually not that great if you're prepared to wait. I think it's extremely unlikely to be a year away, but even if it is you'll still ultimately (ha) get a very good deal.

The slightly bigger risk is if they change the rules in some way. If all else fails and in a worst case scenario, if the product is unopened it will still have a decent resale value.

Are you sure that it will work the way described here? I.e. that you buy the upgrade, and it gets upgraded to the latest version on release? Is the key or whatever you get not tied to the product version?

I'm not sure this'll work. If you buy it from NI directly they'll know the date.

I'm pretty sure (but not kompletely) the grace period won't cover summer discounts period.

Yes, it works that way. You get the latest version of the same type added to the account (on top of the one you registered) if you register during the grace period.

Nope, with NI there is no such thing. If you take support team's help down the line, they will help to unregister the previous version. Speaking from experience. ;)

EDIT: Just to make it clear, you always need the base version registered for your update/upgrade. Needless to say, but thought above statement might be confusing to someone in case they take it out of context.

Buy from a dealer if possible, it usually works better.

Yes, the grace period will only cover a month or so before the actual release date, that is mostly like from the day it is announced until and after a little while it is released.

Yes, since it is not announced today, the next immediate guess is September 6, right after the current K13 sale ends. Contrary to what I initially said, now I feel they probably won't overlap the announcement with this ongoing sale, which actually makes sense.

I just hope we would not need to wait for October for the "announcement", but if there is some new hardware also coming up, it could well go that way.
