Is there a way short of being a programmer to stop it from installing on C drive (windows)?

Just use the zipped folder instead of the installer. You can copy its content wherever you like.

Unfortunately it's to cycle-hungry for my dated CPU. I'm going to have to sit this one out :(

Time for me to get over my Fear of Modular Oscillation.

Modular Synths might be my Achilles' heel. If I do a submission it'd probably be the worst demonstration of what modular synths are capable of...

Mmm. Rackalicious. Anyone know if it's possible to turn off the dark mode, though?

Don't sell yourself short. After you hear some of the modular videos on YouTube, you may realize that you're a lot better than you realize.
I wish I could sing as well as the voices inside my head...

The next release will have a "light mode".

Btw there are already quite a lot of (instrument) patches over on https://patchstorage.com/platform/cardinal/ if anyone needs some inspiration on the kinds of patches you can make with Cardinal.
It's actually quite nice to make individual tracks with small patches, compared to really huge all-encompassing modular-spaghetti.

Are "VCV Prototype" and "Atelier" included in current release of Cardinal, DRMR? I was not able to find it... could be I'm a cardinal noob and used the search in a wrong way... If it's not included, will it be in the next release? And then when will the next release be released?

And just out of curiosity: The steps to add new modules would be as described here https://github.com/DISTRHO/Cardinal/discussions/28, right? I might give adding VCV Prototype myself a try. Makefile is for Linux systems, right? Do you think it will work with MSYS2 on Windows?

Definitely a good tipp. Think there will be many pearls ... kind of comparable to what users provided as reaktor ensembles.

Though this would be the ideal synth for a one instance challenge…
I wonder if it would be ok to use the VCVRack plugin restricted to the modules which come with Cardinal…
Are the patches compatible?

Those are the steps yes, but current setup doesnt work on Windows due to git repository containing symlinks. When cloning the repo on a Windows machine, those get replaced by empty files and it breaks the build :(
If you know how to fix or work-around that, let me know!

You mean git-modules by "symlinks", right?
I have to out my self as a none cli user ... I use Tortoise Git and when cloning the repo from here https://github.com/DISTRHO/Cardinal I just ticked "recursive" checkbox in the clone window.
I know from other repos readme.md (https://github.com/sonoro1234/LuaJIT-ImGui), that this is kind of the cli
git clone --recurse-submodules (initial clone)
git submodule update --init --recursive (updating)

And actually I see that the folders in /plugins are not empty. It took a while to resolve all git-modules, but it worked.
