Just got the VSC-3 , and i have to say......Dämn !

It works like a real tasteful exciter.

Hard to imagine mixing without it now.

You probably mean the VSM-3 from Plugin Alliance. This thread is about the VSC-3 compressor (thus the "C" at the end of the name) :

This is a really great vca compressor, I love using it on fast transient material!

Steven and Fabrice really knocked it out of the park with that release. My fav is the Mu compressor.

I bought VSC-3 bundled with the VSE-2 (useful, silky EQ) to replace the PA Shadow Hills Class A for mastering and bus compression duties. It does have a certain dimension and clarity that I appreciate, similar to some hardware listening I've done, and what others have said regarding comparisons to hardware SSL / clone bus compressors. I find using it very subtly yields excellent results. Used more aggressively on something like piano can yield very liquidy sounds. Definitely can bring out the high end or reverb in a source. The differences in stereo and dual mono are apparent enough, just as with RMS or peak detection modes. Very versatile compressor in that sense. I'm sure similar results can be had with other cheaper/multiple plugins, but this one (along with the VSE-2) ticked all the boxes and allowed me to pare down my plugin collection. It really depends on your needs. I didn't mind paying the price since I haven't blown a ton of money on plugins, wanted something quality, and did not want to buy and deal with multiple redundant plugins. My two cents.
