Why do use Logic?

I never use it to start, as I almost always have something in mind. But it's versatile that way. The new EZ Drummer will now track down possible beats as well.

Drummer, Alchemy, Sculpture, time/pitch correction, comping, and overall kick-assery of the instruments and effects are what draw me to Logic. While there are some corny presets for sure, there are many inspiring ones too. Loops are fun to work with, and the new sequencers are fantastic! The red Compressor model (Focusrite) is one of my fave ITB comps ever.
But...I find Logic the most frustrating of all the DAWs I use regularly (Live, Bitwig, Reason).
- IME it's the least stable AU host (go figure!)
- I find the buss model unintuitive
- Clip launching feels half-baked compared to Live & Bitwig
- Plugin, screenset, and mixer/sequencer window handling is the worst of any program, let alone DAW, I've ever used
- Last I checked PDC was still broken on iZotope plugins that add 1000s of samples latency
- Native control surface/MIDI keyboard support for common brands/models is terrible for a company with Apple's resources...Logic is already a loss leader, why not spend just a few million $$ more to write drivers for common gear?
- I do a lot of realtime sampling of arbitrary combinations of audio tracks, then resampling that on the fly, rinse, repeat etc. which is trivial in AudioMulch, Live, REAPER, Bitwig. Even with new Sampler there's no way I've found to (quickly!) do this in Logic. Probably not a universal need, but anyone raised on analog tape will understand why this is desirable in a recording system.
