Yep, their focus has shifted to regular releases of new sample based instruments for trailer / tv / cinematic stuff, and they have a lot to offer for people who rely on that.

Synth nerds just need to move on, I guess. That's regrettable, but from a business standpoint, it makes sense to consolidate forces on one or two successful platforms (Kontakt and Maschine) and keep on releasing new content that many people are actually buying.

In contrast, it doesn't really make sense to put a lot of tedious and expensive work into a wide range of 10+ year old legacy products with outdated codebases, when the competition is so strong.

Where do you see Absynth8 and FM10?
Or am I blind?
Did you read that before your morning coffee? ;)
How could there be Absynth 8 when the last version is 5 (same for FM8) ;)

for owners of komplete standard 13 the additions are Ozone 10, BX oberhausen, Kontakt 7 (when it's released in October) and a slew of expansions and sampled instruments.

no info about updates to apple silicon etc.

hard pass for me. just not worth it. will skip this update or wait for the half price update sale.. but really it all depends on when the Apple Silicon updates come.

I see the logic in consolidating to the 2 main platforms (Kontakt and Reaktor), but in that case you'd think they'd move a little quicker on updating the UI of at least one of their two platforms. Reaktor badly needs a resizable interface, but I understand if they are focusing on Kontakt right now. But they only did the browser? A company this size?

I think that was the joke.

Definitely a skip for me - £449 for the update from K13CE. I already own most PA plugins and have Ozone 9 Advanced so it's just not worth it. I may just get the Kontakt 7 upgrade instead.

In my book the 2 platforms are Kontakt and Maschine (the latter because they sell hardware, including Maschine+, and lots of expansions).

I doubt Reaktor has such a bright future because it's rather complicated to use, and not as appealing to the mass market, compared to new stand-alone VSTs released elsewhere on a regular basis.

If someone so serious like you tells something, I take it for granted before thinking. :dog:

But you're right: hard times require more jokes!

I actually don’t mind about the old UI, since ideally the main controls and visible improvements should be instrument based???

The exception, I think would be if you’re building instruments and then a refresh would be welcomed.

Browser, aside, and since the page is minimal, any idea if Kontakt 7 will support larger UIs, or resizing or any idea how this could work if there’s user options for resizing?

They should set up a spin off business with Reaktor:
Nerdy Instruments (The Future of Tweaks)

Well, not Reaktor, but this kind of happened. Stephan Schmitt, NI founder and creator of Reaktor, left NI in 2011(!) and founded nonlinear labs. https://www.nonlinear-labs.de/index.html.

Any information on grace periods or nice tricks one can play with unregistered V13 updates?

Maybe not this time...

I'm going by the Komplete Product Descriptions as shown in the attached image.

Gotcha, I was just speculating on what is feasible for them in terms of future investment of development resources.

Post

I had a bit of hope. But this is the most uninteresting Komplete I've seen. Especially for PA customers. Maybe Kontakt 7 will be good, who knows.
