regarding reaktor.. all it really needs is compatibility/efficiency updates and perhaps.. like some other NI stuff.. a rework of the preset/snapshot system. reaktor is only as challenging as the user wants to get. it's not really that hard to work at the macro level or make some synths w/the provided building options. it's not required to work at the Core level to make something useful and musical that sounds good.
and with the Blocks patching it's not hard at all to make a big modular mess with what's included or with the free and commercial Blocks offered by ToyBox and Michael Hetrick... there's so many blocks at this point that it's really quite fleshed out.
so, usability tweaks, compatibility updates would go a long way to keeping it fresh.

yeah.. it really is a pretty lame update.. especially for PA customers. PA has saturated its customer base with sales for so long. throwing in a synth is kinda random.midi_transmission wrote: Wed Sep 07, 2022 3:41 pm I had a bit of hope. But this is the most uninteresting Komplete I've seen. Especially for PA customers. Maybe Kontakt 7 will be good, who knows.
more than anything, NI needs to update it's core synth/sampler line up.. much of which hasn't been touched really other than small updates here and there. battery, absynth, FM8, reaktor etc...

Thats a shame, I really thought we would see Form as a standlone vst. Maybe next time.

I will admit that there are some good packs in here for Cinematic users and people who do movie/tv work, but barely anything anymore as far as updates to products that badly need updates.
I'm going to wait to see what the Kontakt 7 upgrade costs. Hopefully I can upgrade that as a Komplete 13 CE owner. Apart from that maybe I'll jump on a 50% off CE update some time in the future.

Komplete snooze fest for me. Guess there's no money in cool Reaktor ensembles or standalone synths anymore.

This seems clearly to be targeted at the very young ones, hobbyists, and newbies. Just look at the "Play" (!) series...Greenstorm33 wrote: Wed Sep 07, 2022 4:51 pm Komplete snooze fest for me. Guess there's no money in cool Reaktor ensembles or standalone synths anymore.

Still no Battery 5. Battery 4 is positively ancient. No resizable GUI, no automatic drum mapping to the DAW etc. Apart from some of the included sound sets, I feel you're better off with the drum machine included in your DAW (e.g. Impact XT, Groove Agent SE etc.).
Also throwing in a bunch of PA plugins seems random although I guess it makes sense now they're under the same umbrella. Even NI themselves were giving away Oberhausen for free the other month though, which is kind of funny. Some of the others you've been able to buy for under $30 during any of the countless PA sales.

Take a single oscillator, producing a drone. Send it to the wave shaper, altering the tone.
This can be a triangle, Sawtooth or a square. Modulate the pulse width, nobody will care

And one more thing: I am betting K7 will be buggy and will have its quirks, so there will be a time when everyone prefers K6 until the shortcomings have been fixed.
It's a bunch of bananaware. I often reach for old but mature solutions.

A couple of the new instruments look like they could be handy... but the $649 (CAD) update price for CE... not so much.
And agreed on Battery. We're long overdue on 5. I'm still using 4 just because it's already integrated in my templates and workflow, but it's been showing its age for a while now. I can't imagine buying it today with tools like Atlas and XO out there.

As i predicted quite a few years ago, based on their processes. The downfall of NI and the rise of Arturia.
Some NI fanboys were busting my balls back then: i was jealous of the leading music software company (huh??). Yeah right.
Well, here we are.
