Synth hopping is even worse...
Never had the DAW or synth hopping issue.
I felt at home with Bitwig for the longest time. It has the strangest bug on MacOS that the developers acknowledge but refuse to fix for the f*ck I know reason. It bugs me that much that I also refuse to use it and sold my license.
I actually hate Logic. Can't wait for Cubase to change their copy protection so I can demo it without a dongle.
If all else fails, I'll use Renoise for everything... although not optimal.
What bug in Bitwig? Maybe instead of switching DAW you should have switched to Windows :hihi:

If you don't like logic, cubase would probably be quite similar.

Fruity Loops?

that was just a joke...

Was doing a search for something and found this old thread, and thought I'd throw in my two cents.

Maybe I'm just starting to DAW hop. I'm actually (finally) getting around to doing a project I have been wanting to do, and I think I'm finding my current DAW unable to do some things I'd like to/need to do with the project. I don't know for certain that other DAWs can do these things either (though I think, with scripting, I might be able to). I just picked up Ableton 11 Intro (because I can't justify spending the $ for Standard right now) because I just picked up a Novation Launchpad Pro and wanted to understand what I can do with it within the Ableton environment. Once I have a grasp of that, I may be looking at creating/using custom layouts to use the Launchpad with a different DAW. But the aspect of trying out different DAWs is daunting to me. I don't do this stuff full time, it is a hobby, and it takes TIME to really mess around with a DAW to find out what it can and cannot do. I don't know that I have that much patience.

You need a certain level of OCD to do it. Live is not your average DAW, and it can be a tad difficult to adapt to. Depending on what you're used to. Which is most everything else. Took me three tries. ;-)

I've been happy with Reaper for the longest I've been happy with a DAW. No plan on changing. I bought Bitwig recently just to play with Polyphonic Modulation and CLAP plugins, as well as support some of the people behind CLAP, but I have no intention of actually making a switch to Bitwig. Studio One hardly ever gets opened except for beta testing or a few specialty tasks it does better than Reaper (tempo mapping live audio via Melodyne is much better in S1). Cuabuse, excuse me, Cubase, I'm done with.

I spent 13 years with Propellerheads Reason from v1.0 to 7.03. I still have it, but I just don't use it any more. I have Studio One 4.6 Pro, but I don't really create much music these days anyway. I chose Studio One because Propellerheads development of the program was just too slow and, I wanted something new. I didn't miss Reason at all, I just got on with creating music which at the end of the day, all that mattered. Bigger productions with a faster workflow was what I wanted and what I got.

Wow! I didn't realize that my thread, now long since deleted, was immortalized here!

It was not just a parody, but my passive/aggressive attempt to let people know what a shitshow the forum was becoming that week with the ridiculous number of garbage threads that were more clickbait than informative of thought-provoking. I think it lasted about 6 or 7 replies before the Magic Banhammer smashed it to oblivion. RIP, dear thread...

However, since, things seem much improved.
Oh, and break some legs! Y'all are superstars!
I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better? :(

I started with Renoise and have had my eyes on Ableton ever since I became able to afford it. I haven't been in the position to DAW hop regardless of how envious I was and I became a big proponent of trackers instead (I still am, they're great!). I'm all about using the tools a box comes with rather than having a big pile of plugins to drag around.

Post

Not really, one day I used Studio one for tracking a band and it had some nice stuff, but I am so familiar and at home in Live i wouldn't switch ever.

I could be happy with 4-5 different DAW's. They are all so capable these days.

I have no plan to switch away from Bitwig cause I am fast and comfortable with it. I also use Logic sometimes for a few tasks that Bitwig cannot do.

Post

Since I got the Push 2 controller and Live I'm not touching Logic again. It's such a nice experience the hybrid DAW + controller thing.... Still have some projects to port from Logic to Live. It's a lot of work, but worth it, I guess....

Started with FL, and after 2 other programs have finally landed on REAPER. Been with that for a while, and don't see much reason to switch.
