Maybe not this time...
I think there is no grace upgrade with new k14. what a shame :(
I understand there will be more clarity on this in the coming day or two.

Not that big a problem for me. Coming from K10 standard, it's already a big leap to K13 update which I got for a very reasonable price. And I still got Absynth. :)

This seems clearly to be targeted at the very young ones, hobbyists, and newbies. Just look at the "Play" (!) series...
Hobbyists and people doing film scores and the like seem to be their target audience nowadays. I wonder if Massive X did so poorly that it put them off doing any more synths or refreshing their existing ones.
Massive X was not that awful itself - a decent synth (and an awful preset browser)... after three or four release date delays... and if you hate or forget the original one and don't want a successor.

But the time the original hat it's victory run, there weren't either Sylenth, Serum, Pigments nor Dune. Nowadays though...
Massive X is cool but the problem is it's got little of what made the original great. Whereas Massive arguably had the best UI in the industry Massive X is stuck in 2008 and in some ways worse than the original. Instead of being "powerful but easy to use" it's "very powerful but with a lot of complexity that doesn't make it easy for newer synthesists to pick up" (made worse by the fact that it released with no manual!). And they still haven't fixed the garbage patch browser which is another knock for less experienced users who rely on presets. To me Massive X is a niche instrument for synth nerds and it's no wonder they couldn't replicate the success of the likes of Serum which even though it's a bit different is much more in line with the spirit of the original Massive than Massive X is.

Am I reading things right that their plugs STILL wont have silicon support until later this year, and battery and reaktor will be 2023?! LOL

As far as free grace period upgrades, it looks like they've changed it up and arent offering it any more, but they will offer you a 50% discount;

Eliminating the grace period will not eliminate the packages piled up in the stores.
People who recently got 13 will regret or return them.
I feel NI's approach is not very sincere.

Which is what I'll be doing shortly.

Nice! If it's on par with the Classic EP, I'll be onboard. But please consider a right-side-up view option.

Hmm, Ozone? Does it mean it will be available via Native Access? Hope so, iZotope's own downloader is terrible.

I picked up the update 10 days ago for about 90 bucks thinking Kontakt 6 is good enough for me and being a version behind can have its advantages, too. No regrets here. Other sales will come.

Yikes.
So it not having an update was not a refusal on his part to do so..

Nice video and nice to see his appreciation for what it became through out the years.

I’m definitely interested in what he develops down the line. Could be good

I haven't registered the serial with the Komplete 13 upgrade I bought a month ago, any hope here to get 14?

He left NI quite awhile ago, which is probably why we've been using Absynth 5 for like a decade now. Have a feeling NI has no clue what to do with the code and Mr C is the only one that can 'sort it out'.
He sent this out as an email to Rhizomatic customers earlier too and it made me very happy to hear it. Would much rather stick with Rhizomatic and have it all back in the original developers hands. Brian was awesome in the early days of Absynth and even a bit after NI bought it and he went work for them but at some point they made him disappear from the community forums and mailing lists he participated in 'back in the day'. I actually got help directly from him when Abynth 2 dropped and due to changes in some of the parameters, some presets from Absynth 1 had to be 'fixed' to sound correctly again. Its nice to know he's been keeping tabs on his baby and we'll have something similar like it again soon.
