Also, with K13 if you got CE you could only get updates to CE, while if you got - for example - Ultimate you could still crossgrade to next version Standard. One of the reasons not to go CE... then you can only stay CE.

Sorry if someone answered it already, but Kontakt libraries are not backwards compatible. So, the newly updated factory library, Choir-Omnia, and any future libraries will only work with Kontakt 7.

All Kontakt libraries released before this month will work with Kontakt 6. This month there won't be any new Kontakt library releases, except the new factory library and Choir-Omnia announced with Komplete 14/Kontakt 7.

After all, Kontakt 7 is the main incentive of this upgrade. I assume the update price to Kontakt 7 will be will $99 as usual, so for those that only want Kontakt 7 and the new factory library, this will be a cheaper alternative. However, this will only be possible October 4 onwards, which is when Kontakt 7 will be released separately in store. The only catch is though it seems that you would need a dedicated Kontakt 1-6 license for the Update and the one that's included with Komplete would not count. This is based on what I am seeing for Kontakt 6.

Quite a dissapointing release for my needs i must say. I also alpha tested Kontakt 7 and the high DPI thing isnt really there since in my DAW despite interface being bigger it looks blurry. :-(

ARKHIS seems to be missing in that list, but we know it is a Collectors Edition exclusive. There may be some other new and useful articles linked as well.

Having done the half price upgrade/free update transition to CE a year (or two?) ago there is nothing even remotely interesting in this ROMpler Instruments update. Which makes it an easy pass. As others have noted the current Tracktion sale through JRR is fabulous. Picked up Novum.

shame there is no info on Kontakt 7 but I cant see me upgrading to Komplete - andKontakt 7 will have to have some genuine usability improvements to get me to upgrade.

From everything I have seen so far Kontakt 7 looks like a very small upgrade, really just a new (and much needed) browser, not really a major edition bump, but then neither was V6! It looks like they really struggled to add anything new in K14 other than 3rd party content, shame.
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

Well I guess the wait starts now for Kontakt 8. It’s easy to not need Kontakt 7 if you don’t buy any K7 libraries.

I suspect a lot of NI's 'coding' time is going in to M1 support- they have a roll out for that which isn't complete until 2023...

Would need to wait for Komplete 16 I think. So, 4 years from now.

Pretty sure we're all 'paying' vst3 compatibility too...

And VST 3 support is not exactly flying along either. I think/hope the next Komplete will involve some new things (Reaktor 7? FM9??) otherwise NI's sales will start falling. Komplete used to sort of do it all, now it is becoming Terrabytes of samples which I think is less and less appealing. Anyone into music production likely has lots of samples already from all sorts of sources. What makes NI samples so good.
I believe every thread should devolve into character attacks and witch-burning. It really helps the discussion.

Apple owning experts in various threads have stated that devs coding to add M1 support doesn’t affect the development of new features.

I’ve seen Komplete 14 come out with zip new stuff I’m interested in.

Ableton Live’s beta releases list of new additions is wall to wall “MacOS this” and “MacOS” that.

This doesn’t prove anything of course, but it is slightly annoying for those of us not in thrall to Cupertino.

NI have lagged on every front, 64 bit support, resizable GUI's, VST3 support, etc. etc.
NI are a great company for a couple fantastic products, but they're absolutely the last in line with every OS update and new technological feature and have been for decades. Arturia updated for VST3 and resizable GUI's previous to Apple Silicon, so it didn't affect their development. They kept up a modern graphics framework in order to meet modern technologies and NI flatly did not. They're introducing and upgrading their line up accordingly. This has little to do with Cupertino and more to do with NI's been counters and at this point their tradition of pushing new product rather than improving their current products, hence their new interest in their Rompler "play" libraries.

Arturia aren't the only ones, I just picked up three VI's from Tracktion, all with resizable GUI's, VST3, MPE, and Apple Silicon support. Apple simply can't be used as an excuse for their laziness anymore, their track record proves that idea wrong.

Yeh, most of those other companies have great pre-set browsers as well and don't charge an update for them as a top new feature! I suspect all K14 will be remembered for is dropping Absynth.
