Reason Apple M1 Native Support

So here we go… Steinberg have just released Cubase 12 that is Apple M1 native.
This joins pretty much all major Apple M1 native DAWs that include:
- Logic
- Ableton Live
- Bitwig
- Tracktion/Waveform
- Steinberg Cubase 12
- Studio 1
- FL studios
- Digital Performer
… as it is, Reason can’t even support VST 3 now, so I wonder, when if ever will we see Reason that is Apple M1 native…?!

The latest information I've seen for this is the roadmap update from 17th November 2021 which states that they plan to have both M1 native and VST3 implemented by May 2022.

Wow, they are really taking their sweet time…DoktorTenma wrote: Fri Mar 04, 2022 2:31 pm The latest information I've seen for this is the roadmap update from 17th November 2021 which states that they plan to have both M1 native and VST3 implemented by May 2022.

The next macOS will be announced in June and it will mark almost 2 years since M1 Macs release…
Reasonstudios are really chasing their own tail now…
Considering canceling my Reason+ subscription
What a shame

I’d probably bite the bullet and upgrade to 12 if M1 happens this month; not much else compelling me to jump up from 11.

To be fair, I imagine it’d be a much larger undertaking to port Reason to M1 than most DAWS; for the same reason VCV Rack probably won’t make the jump anytime soon. They not only have their own legacy code to contend with, but hundreds of third party racks… Hopefully they’ll provide a bridge for non-native racks to use Rosetta instead of dumping support altogether.Atlatnesiti wrote: Fri Mar 04, 2022 2:47 pmWow, they are really taking their sweet time…DoktorTenma wrote: Fri Mar 04, 2022 2:31 pm The latest information I've seen for this is the roadmap update from 17th November 2021 which states that they plan to have both M1 native and VST3 implemented by May 2022.

Looks like you all aren't aware of their LATEST roadmap from March: https://reasonstudios.com/blog/being-pr ... riorities/
And I quote:
"Native M1 support is still planned for 2022 but for now pushed forward in time. Getting the right quality for Reason 12 took more time than expected and we need to prioritize the delivery of VST3. And as you know Reason works well with Rosetta on M1 Mac computers."
Make sure you read this too:
"We’ll deliver several devices this year and ensure we fix key capabilities, for example VST3, M1 and a new and improved Offline support. In parallel we are also doing research and working on long term plans for how to take the Reason Rack Plugin and standalone DAW to the next level. However, do not expect too much DAW workflow development during 2022..."

They are prioritizing a new device player & offline mode for their + subscription over M1. And no Reason works but not well with Rosetta. VST3 will come out by fall but I expect M1 support will be pushed out to 2023 because the next Mac OS update will be out this fall.hurricaneaudiolab wrote: Mon May 02, 2022 4:03 pm Looks like you all aren't aware of their LATEST roadmap from March: https://reasonstudios.com/blog/being-pr ... riorities/

Pfffffff. Almost all the plugins I use (and my DAWs) are native now.
The only ones that are not are Native Instrument, Sonimus, Black Rooster, Kush, and of course Reason.
I upgraded to Reason 12 last fall (and paid much too much) only because I was expecting what they were announcing : native M1 compatibility. I don't care about new effects or even VST3. Actually I only need Reason because I need retro-compatibility with old sessions and old songs : I never use Reason for anything new...
It's been 2 years since the release of the Apple Silicon chip. Reason raised their price with the version 12, and I guess many users upgraded to 12 just because of M1 support or at least compatibility with new Os (because frankly there's not much improvement compared to 11) so I think we should expect a bit more work and emergency for such an important update...

Agreed! Reason does NOT work well with Rosetta! I have all kinds of problems with it, and it runs slow. I wish they would keep up with what they committed to and stop trying to push new plugins. They now have a new roadmap, with M1 native support being vaguely referenced towards the end of the year... another 6 months!DJBuddhaBear wrote: Mon May 02, 2022 4:09 pm They are prioritizing a new device player & offline mode for their + subscription over M1. Unlike what Apple suggests to their customers porting complex products to native M1 is not easy at all. In our case it did mean many months of additional work.
The same is true for VST3.

It would be interesting to know how long it took them to port (say) Logic over - for all we know it might have been five years or more... behind the scenes they had all the time in the world to port their own stuff to their own "new" architecture - GarageBand for IOS, when did that one come out?

Does anybody has any news regarding Reason's M1 support ?
Last official news are from june but were pretty vague : it seems they planned to add VST3 around the end of 2022, and then work on M1 support.
Is it still the plan ?
I'm using some Reason stuff on stage, and I'd truly like some progress regarding M1 support...

I wouldn’t hod your breath. The way Reasonstudios updates Reason, it could be sometime at the end of 2024…
They still can’t sync Reason and companion app to the same login and you have to manually retype your details every time you launch Reason. What a joke…
Raised this issue with Reasonstudios 4 months ago. They promised fix soon…
Today I’ve received reason update, but the issue is not fixed…
Maybe it will be in 2024 as well…
As far as vst3 and Apple Silicone updates in near future, I gave up already…
Thinking of canceling my subscription soon.
