I thought it was just me who didn't like it. But yeah, the new design is not good in my opinion.

The beauty of Tal Sampler is that it WASN'T huge on tabs. Now there are multiple tabs for lfos, envelopes, effects & the resampler. That's just more clicking, compared to the previous version there was only a need to tab through the layers.
I read more than post = I listen more than I talk

The bad thing about tabs isn’t just all that extra clicking, but also that you completely lose the ability to see everything at a glance.

I’d be curious to learn what the thinking was here.

didnt expect this from TAL!
i use the sampler a lot! i dont use the browser at all, i drag and drop from my DAW browser, so why do i get another browser i dont want and all the other stuff behind tabs?
no way, TAL this is a pure bad design for workflow... wont update. really disappointed as i didnt expect this from him.

Ok, perhaps he(or she) should update the instrument and offer a choice. Those who want to have tabs and a browser - can have it. Those who don't want that can switch to the old version, I mean old appearance.

Even though this sounds "simple" or "just make it back" - I am pretty sure it's a lot of time to do this.

I agree with the browser. This was kinda unnecessary. We all have browsers in our DAWs more or less.

i think all the new tabs only make real sense if Patrick was preparing for a ton! of new functionality in the future.
if the functionality is going to stay more or less the same as it is now, i think he did a misstep this time around.

yes, it would take him some work to revert back, but he'd "only" need to go back to the last 3.x version with the old GUI and add those new features and bug fixes on top of that.
i don't mind the browser, but it could easily be a pop up or tacked on area to the left that only shows up when enabled. which of course could be a permanent state for people who always want to have it displayed.
The GAS is always greener on the other side!

i just tried it, browser can be hide. looks better imo, without the keys, colors save/load, etc!

I like the simpler look. The last GUI was distracting for me, a barrage of knobs without much differentiation, and I could never land on a colour scheme that didn't give me eye bleed.

I agree that the mod matrix shouldn't be scrolled though. Maybe it could toggle with the browser to give it more space? Not sure you'd need both open at the same time.

Mixed feelings about the new GUI...
+ I like the new browser
- (bug?) the starred locations disappear when I click a tab (presets/samples)
- SFZ import is gone(?)
- I miss the piano keyboard on the bottom. Can't we have it back and turn it on/off like with the browser?
- Too much empty space. Maybe the old version was a bit too "cramped", now we have the opposite...

I think I'll reinstall the old version, for now... (at least until it remembers the location(s) in the browser)

i don't like the new version, went back to the old version

There is a way to do tabs in a way that makes sense. For example have a large tab with all the effects, have a tab for the entire browser, etc. But this is the worst way it can be done which is to great dozens of tabs for individual tiny little panes. So much clicking. And the scroll bar is never fun. As much as I don't like too many tabs, it is much preferrable to have a tab for 2 matrix panes if you really can't fit them all, for example with 5 or 6 slots in each.

I did send feedback, it's worth letting him know. I think he does need to change something to expand the functions, but like I said there are ways to have much fewer tabs and avoid scroll bar in tiny panes.

Old version better for sure.

Strongly disappointing ui. I'm speechless. I'm wondering what the idea is behind that.

The mod matrix always scrollable? So many more mouse clicks by tabs and no overview any more. Super small window. It can be resized but I don't see more, it's just getting bigger.

That all was the beauty of TAL sampler that is lost. I see no reason why I should use it in this form. Feels as unlpeasant as Kontakt.

Sorry Tal!

Yes the last ui update was also not well made and worse than the one before. The default color schemes were difficult to watch as well.

I'm quite sad that this plugin is getting worse and worse because of ui enhancements.
