I'm looking for a filter plugin VST3 for PC / Mac, free or cheap (< $50), with at least several filter modes, including few drastic ones (48 dB). I prefer those which have a good company behind to support it in the future.

I know about Tone2 Bifilter, but it doesn't support VST3, do you know another alternatives?

Maybe something from Kilohearts? For filters I use their Slice EQ and modulate the frequency bands with their Snap Heap plugin host. Very effective and easy to use... and less than $50!

Toneboosters DualVCF seems a good fit at 19EUR

if an EQ is ok:

ToneBoosters DualVCF, AudioDamage Filterstation2... as well as Inear Display's Regressif, Hy-Filter4 and D16 Devastor.

ToneBooster and Audio Damage will be the more feature complete.
Regressif is only a single multimode filter, but you can mix the various kind of filters (HP/LP/BP).
Hy-Filter4 has a lot of features, but might not give you "accurate analog emulations" if that's what you're after.
Devastor has a rather unique structure, but can give interesting results.

I would also take a look at both CableGuys Filtershapers. There are also Zero Delay Feedback filters in there.
And... consider Filterscape from u-he, it's fairly soon having a - free for registered users - significant upgrade.

EDIT: sorry u-he is over your budget.

TAL-Filter

Although it doesn't meet your "drastic" filter slope requirement, if that's important for you.

Is u-he really updating filterscape? Where can I find such information?

I can't lie to you about your chances, but... you have my sympathies.

Thanks for all your suggestions. I'm reading and demoing them.

Toneboosters DualVCF seems quite promising, however I had the mistake to test it after Fabfilter Micro and Simplon, so it sounded quite weak :P I need to test it again.

DDMF IIEQPro isn't exactly what I'm looking for. I didn't test the demo, but I think you cannot automate bands or resonance - and I'm very interested in that!

CableGuys Filtershapers seems very nice! I'm going to try its demo now. It's a bit out of my budget, but I think if I like it I'll wait to get it on sale.

Tal filter is free, well, I lose nothing for testing it, but I was looking for a soup of filters inside a single plugin to swap between them, it this seems quite limited.

BPB Dirty Filter: Excellent on paper. I need to know how it sounds now! Thank you!

UVI Shades: Same price as Fabfilter Volcano... and I love it, so it depends it's price when it's on sale. But seems good!

FKFX Obvious Filter: I tested it yesterday, but I wasn't convinced.

Filter Force: Very very interesting, thanks!

I think I have enough to test. If I don't find nothing that suit my taste I'll wait to black friday to purchase Volcano/Uvi Shade or Filtershapers, while I'm using the BPB Dirty Filter or Tal Filter. Thanks to everyone!!

I dislike Filterscape: too knoby for me
