Replacing 2Caudio Reverbs

guys, thanks for support. I appreciate that. In my initial post in march I asked for such support as I was not sure if I should stay in pro audio plug-in business any longer - the situation was depressive - the results of 17 years of very hard work evaporated in a single day by a decision of a man who collected pretty good amount of money from all my efforts.

some notes:

1) Breeze 2.x reverb engine math is Andrew's RnD. I can only do an (improved) variation of Breeze 1.x engine which was a downscaled derivation of Aether

2) B2 as a modular reverb concept can be re-created. I find the shaper section redundant myself

3) VPN won't help as it's about getting money into a russian bank. SWIFT still partially works but is not reliable and minimal charge is too high at the moment. The conditions change every month. I'm exploring the options

The news I've read today seems pretty positive about the general trajectory of the whole 'affair'.

Fingers crossed it 'simplifies' things.

I have no idea why you think it might simplify things for Russians. Russia is not coming back. It will get a lot worse before it gets better, because even in the unlikely event that things fundamentally change direction politically, the cool-aid withdrawal for a majority of the population will cause internal drama of epic porportions. Plus there's ten years of cases waiting at The Hague. GTFO is probably your best bet, but that ship has mostly sailed.

Maybe being employed by (or a contractual consultant for) a western company would work, my understanding is that software companies that reside in the free world but employ people from Russia/Belarus are functional and can pay wages more or less without issue.

I would see if theres a developer group/pulisher you can join, where you work under their label and just receive a salary. Maybe Plugin Alliance? It seems to be working for Dmitry Sches, who is in Belarus and probably faces similar challenges.

Oh and make sure you can't get drafted.

Yay - but tbh I absolutely don't

- it's just that I think it could be a lot better. Actually in my opinion it would be great to even have two identical slots per engine with a serial/parallel button (and a mix knob for parallel), but each slot should only have a few algos - maybe "tube", "tape", "digital" and "transistor" with a specialized parameter for each (e.g. stepped bit&sample rate reduction for digital (with value-pairings that reflect those of specific vintage digital devices), continuous even/odd for tube, etc.) plus a drive knob with automatic gain correction...


...well, something along these lines anyway. That would give the user a huge variety of possiblities with a lot less effort and much more control than having to chose one from a list of 33 different algorithms with mostly non-descriptive names.

I’m always confused as to why someone would abandon a software license that they paid for when it’s working perfectly because at some point in the future it may no longer work. Everything may no longer work at some point. An asteroid could split this planet at some point. I’m using B2 in my current project and it’s great. It sucks that someone who worked on it didn’t get paid for their work, allegedly, but that has no effect on the software’s performance.

It's not just *did not get paid for work*. I'm the Co-Founder, the author of >90% code, I came up with 2CAUDIO brandname, I invited Andrew to do a joint biz back in 2005 and I researched and developed award-winning Aether reverb and all the software code infrastructure even prior to 2CAudio launch in 2008.

Breeze is already not working in native mode on my M1 machine.
It’s not a big deal but it means I need to use the AU version if I want to run my daw native. And I don’t know if it will work in 2 years if I need to change my OS...
But of course it’s nothin compared to the very bad issues we will get very soon because of climate change, so 2c Audio is not the worst of our problems.
It’s just this thread is about 2cAudio (and the fact we bought plugins that are now abandonware) and not about climate change (even if this is a much more important subject)

My Camel Audio stuff still still works great (and still sounds great) and that was abandoned many years ago now. So yeah I for sure would not stop using something because it was abandoned.

man.. the 2caudio saga is a long continuous drag... especially for apple users but also especially for the relevant parties who were once partners.

sigh. i'll miss B2 when it finally shits the bed permanently.

This is a good example of what happens when a developer no longer develops your software. Alchemy works on my iMac, but not if I want to use Live 11 or Bitwig. The newer DAWs are using graphics libraries that are incompatible with Alchemy. The sound engine still works, but without a GUI. Not very enjoyable to use. Camel Audio could rebuild Alchemy to run on new machines - if Camel Audio still existed.

Alchemy 1 with its GUI runs as it always has in Bitwig and on my Windows 10 machine. Apple seems to enjoy breaking things for their own purpose.

I have relagated it to my bass pedals to be controlled though since the continuous dampener pedals retriggers it continuously unless I turn that feature off in it.

BTOT: My 2c still works great on my Win7 double v1 Xeons. However, only Breeze is light enough to run on my Win10 single v3 Xeon. The others choke the 4 core pretty fast.

I lived in San Jose/Blossom Hill for just over five years and worked in Sunnyvale. When Apple had two music related departments, both were my customers. But they decided to break that first by downsizing, consolidating, and marginalizing its focus for those of us that supported them for specifically being "more for artists". Now that's just an illusion for marketing. I've watched them become more and more soulless since that moment. (1988?)

An incremental seduction toward servitude. And MS follows suite in its own way. Only Linux offers freedom, and that's probably a yet to be revealed illusion as well...
