Hello Everyone! Are there any dumb (LCD screen, max) devices that store midi information in banks and can be recalled easily? I'm thinking something like a guitar pedal that outputs midi when triggered. If I were playing guitar and wanted a background synth line to play, what's the easiest way to do that? Thanks!

Miditemp used to make them, but not any more. They go for silly prices and require a 3.5" floppy disk station in your PC.

Any clip based sequencer on an iPad/iPhone could do it, if you can start clips with any Midi message. It doesn’t need to be in the pedal. Pedals which send Midi messages are around…

Thank you both for your replies! Didn’t even think of using my phone. Only problem with that setup is more moving parts than should be necessary. I can’t believe someone hasn’t created something like that for live use! The only midi pedals I’ve found are manufacturer specific.

The kind of standard for Midi pedals since decades is this:

I have McMillen Softstep (Version 1)

Both are programmable to your liking…
I bet there is more around…

These are just pedals. They emit a single message, usually a Program Change. This needs to be connected to a sequencer or sampler that plays the desired thing.
