Is a tracker like a sequencer without recording capabilities, or something other than that?
Ideas are bulletproof... I am not.

Bit more to it than that.

Imagine a traditional sequencer timeline, left to right. Now turn it 90 degrees so it goes top to bottom, and you're getting close.

The notes are displayed literally as text in vertical columns representing tracks. Along with command codes that automate FX and other parameter stuff etc.

Generally asociated with having in-built sampling, which most do. But the modern ones also support VST etc.

I think Renoise is currently the best tracker, its got a lovely interface, and packs nearly all the punch of a traditional sequencer, just in a different way.

you can record also ;)

After playing around on the rm1x tracker like sequencer I'm very interested in getting into pc trackers. The only problem is I haven't found any that come close to the rm1x.

Are there any that allow you to zoom in to more than 16th notes?

Does anybody use them side by side with a "major" sequencer (ie nuendo, logic, etc..)?

hi bloodroot

There isn't anything I can't do in Buzz unless it involves using a mouse or seeing pictures.

There was a thread earlier today that mentioned 2 new trackers under development, sorry, can't remember the title.
