Copying and pasting FXs in Cubase seems more tedious that S1 and Reaper. In the later, you can highlight your tracks and drag the FXs to one track and it'll paste that FX to all the highlighted tracks. I guess I must not be doing it right in Cubase?

The copy channel settings? No good because it copies the fader level and pan. I'm not sure why anyone would use that.

Highlight your tracks, click the drop down to Select insert, hold down Shift and Alt then click on the FX. Ugh.... Well, if you use plugins that have Group options like the Hornet plugins, you'd have to open all of them and set them to the group you want.

There has to be a better way?

What can be simplier than alt drag the fx / fx block to the other channel?

Not sure about group plugins. Don't think I have ever used one!

In Cubase 6, to open an insert across multiple channels at once all you need to to is select the channels ( ctrl + left click the channels you want included ) then in one of the inserts for one of the channels, shift + alt+ left click and select the plugin you want.

The plugin will then load in same insert slot of all the channels you selected.

I'm the mixer view, drag the bottom, below the fader, to the new mixer channel. It copies the fx. Not obvious, but easy once you memorize it.

That is the copy track/channel settings. No good because it copies the fader level, and pan. I'm not sure why anyone would use that. I'd rather send tracks that use similar FXs to a group channel.

I mentioned that method in my original post.

Well... Cubase is cumbersome in some places.

I see. Its just an odd thing that the folks that invented VSTs don't have this ability in their mixer.

I use it all the time. I might add a layer on a second channel, then group the two channels together, and finally copy the VSTs from the original channel to the new group channel. Delete the original channel VSTs once copied obviously. Like, I do this every session. Very useful.

Bring mouse over to the Inserts tab and wait to see the hand icon and just drag it to the next channel, No modifier key needed
Can not drag to multiple channels though.

In addition, if the target channel is to far to drag, again hover the mouse over the Inserts tab and right click/copy. Move to and select target channel and rightclick over the Inserts tab and paste. And like ozinga points out: "Can not drag to multiple channels though".
On a number of Macs
