Dumb question but it's years since I last did an update. Last time I bought Artist 10.5 I was starting afresh from a long break from music so it was a clean install. I vaguely remember you used to have the option to overwrite or install separately and keep the older versions. Thought I may as well take the plunge while the sale is on, and update to Win11 while I'm at it too. So, will C12 overwrite 10.5 if I buy 12? Would be useful to still access 10.5 for a wee while...then get rid of it after I've finished what I'm working on currently. (And I want to transfer Loopmash across to C12...apparently doable).

Short answer: No. They can both exist on your computer. C12 does not overwrite earlier versions. C12 doesn’t require the dongle. The earlier versions do.

You can even launch both and jump from one to the other.
On a number of Macs

Thanks. :tu: I might take the plunge and do it tomorrow morning after work.
I suspect upgrading to Win11 won't be as easy, but miracles might happen... :hihi:

It's not really a big deal. :)

It does update the license on the dongle though. I found this a bit stressful, as I always do when a license is updating, but it was fine. Dongle for older versions. Not needed for 12.

Win 11... Seems to work fine for audio. I got a new laptop recently, need to find a guide to remove crud from the start menu a task bar. It's pretty invasive to me.

btw, are you in Northland? Was there recently for a wedding. Beautiful part of the world!!

It'll feel strange without the dongle - used one for over 30 yrs. Yeah Northland, I got sick of the wind down in Welly. Not sure I'd call it winterless up here, but definitely warmer. Beach heaven up here. It doesn't matter what life throws at you, there's a soft sand beach with warm water somewhere close by to soothe the soul.

I still have other stuff on my elicenser so so still need to use it and an I look. Both are fine though tbh.

Yeah it was very mild when we were there. Stunning countryside with the rolling hills, and yes amazing beaches. Felt a long way from London that's for sure! Would have liked some more time there for sure.
