sounds different...

Probably just adding a VA engine to the Montage. They do mention the VL1, but I would be surprised if they added physical modeling. Interestingly, the credits with the list of synths used doesn't feature their other cult classics that everyone begs for, SY77, FS1r...

I hope they're adding AN1x (VA synth engine) to Montage.
IMO, Classic analog sounds (for a gigging keyboard player) is one of the weakest areas.
Montage can do classic analog type sounds... but you have to program most from scratch.

As a Montage owner, I would love to see a VA engine added to my board.

But here's the thing: the video being referenced is from 2018 or 2019 when the white model was released. There's no CS-80 or AN1x on that model: they were used as backing synths on the video.

All the recent press about "Is Yamaha adding a VA engine to the Montage/MODX line" all stems from one source: a few of us on the Yamaha synth forum musing over whether it's possible, based on the leaked news about a MODX+ keyboard. Yamaha has said nothing about a VA engine being added.

I hope I'm wrong! But none of this VA talk is coming from Yamaha at all, in any form.

There are pictures of the MODX+, so at the very least it's a prototype product.
All else is speculation/rumor...

I believe Yamaha is a publicly traded company.
As such, I don't believe they can talk (officially) about future products/updates/etc.
I know Line-6 (under the Yamaha umbrella) has mentioned this numerous times (when folks ask about future updates/development).
