Hi all, I wonder if someone can help me.
Im currently working on a song/track.
There is a section at the intro part where the guitar power chords kick in and ontop of that is a synth arp which graduates in volume, increasing opening filter and reduction of envelope.
The synth sounds good when isolated with a nice fizz to it but in the mix it sounds a little washy.
Is there a way I can enhance it to give more clarity?

I would play with automating the resonance when the filter is opening and maybe use the stereo field more on either the guitars or the synth part to help with keeping the sounds separate.

imho it's a given that sounds that are impressive on their own can fall apart in a mix.
For this phenomena I mainly blame frequency masking: other sounds have louder content in parts of the spectrum where the sound you concentrate on is weaker. So you cannot hear it in full glory anymore.
Either make room for that frequency by sculpting it away from other tracks, or tweak the synth patch until it sounds to your liking again. Or you make the problem bigger than it is: only you know how it sounded in isolation, but the audience does not.
