If that's how you're thinking, you can have all of it in free plugins so why bother at all?
Exactly. I've been waiting for a new drum machine that could bring something new to the table and I kept my eye on Drumlogue when it was announced. Then I saw how lacklustre this machine is.

Btw. why are you even here? So many times on this forum you called anyone who is interested in hardware 'an idiot', because 'software da best'. Did you join 'iD' team?

That doesn't preclude me from being an idiot. I currently have 6 hardware synths of my own and we have tinkered with the idea of doing our live shows with hardware. And, like I said, this thing looks pretty cool so it caught my attention. I first saw it on Engadget and was going to start a thread on it here if there wasn't one already. Also, you can't call people idiots if you don't understand their side of the argument as well as your own.

Pretty disappointing release. Korg could’ve made this thing incredible but it seems they got bored. As did I demoing it today. Elektron has nothing to worry about.

Ohhhhh, I haven't heard about this :hyper:
The information apparently came from the guy at the Elektron booth at Knobcon 2022. Firmware updates for three boxes and that the ST update is major

That would explain why Elektron gave the ST a 1GB +Drive, but it would also seem to cannibalize sales of the Digitakt.

Indeed it would. But the price of the DT is a bit lower and maybe the sales are trailing off. In either case, if it's true that the ST will get samples then the ST might be the most perfect thing Elektron have released, where the coolest ideas converge.

Yeah, it would be an epic update… and my Digitakt would go on the market the very next day (along with everybody else who owns both) :hihi:

Would be a great all in one device and yeah, a major sell-off. There already was one when Syntakt was released.

I was only thinking along the lines of more machine choices and and an expanded fx section since there’s far too much unused space.

This will be interesting to see and I’ll have popcorn ready for watching the Elektronauts reactions.

Just speculating here, but maybe Elektron wouldn't add sampling to the ST - that would make the DT and ST not eat too much into each others sales. It really wouldn't surprise me. Elektron has a penchant for releasing wanted updates but with one or two major things missing.

Another thing that comes to mind is some form of song mode. But Elektron seems determined not to add that to this lineup.

Yeah, it’s anybody’s guess until we see the update, but I’ve thought it pretty odd all along that it has a 1GB drive for something that doesn’t store samples. Then again, maybe they just had so many 1GB drives stocked up that it was cheapest to use their existing stock. And maybe, as you mentioned, DT sales are way down so they’re shifting focus to ST sales. I have no idea, just speculating.

But, I would love a song mode.

That said, I am increasingly of the opinion that drums (if you're not playing live) are so well serviced and suited to software, that it seems a tad inefficient using these hardware boxes...just my 2c worth of course.
On paper, I think the Korg sounds like an incredible machine, mainly because of the programmable oscillator. If you've heard what Sinevibes are doing then this could easily be a chameleon of grooveboxes. I'm also a bit of a fanboy when it comes to Korg. They have this quirky sense of doing things, and I'm very intrigued to hear how it treat samples. If it's anywhere near the old-school vibe of the Volca Sample, this could be something incredibly cool. Separate outs! Audio in! All really cool stuff.

Old thread resurrected!
I just picked one up as Korg has slashed the price (I paid £350 from Juno, UK). Good to see a few people making 'logue units for machine now...more please, user base will grow at the new price!

Nice pickup!

I just was looking at a used one now selling for $300.

The thing is that I really don’t need it, but I’d love to see the user base grow too for more varied sounds.

Apparently the multi-engine is more powerful than the one in the Minilogue XD. It is something I'll keep my eye on depending on what gets ported to it.
