hmm..and it says for the reason "unknown".

I guess you tried unblocking it and it keeps doing it? I've had I think Kontakt end up on that list because it took too long to scan. I unblocked it and it was fine afterwards.

Ok SB doesn't normally recommending unblocking it, more a rescan (top right same blacklisted window).
The reason unknown is not what I find the most curious.
1) why did it block falcon but not uvi workstation
2) and I guess they are using wrappers, but why is there an x64 folder in their contents folder subfolder.

Do you perchance know how to get an earlier version of falcon?

A new scan without unblocking it first doesn't do anything

Post

I don't think that is true.
That is not the procedure we are taught in beta testing for SB.
And I have done it without having to do that with other plugins (KK, Kontakt and Maschine2 for instance.)

But I will try it.

In Omnisphere with a click I find the samples of a sound.
Double-click on the keyzone
I think what he means is that Falcon doesn't come with a proper easy to use built in sample bank. Many of the factory sounds use samples but those samples are not easy to access (or even impossible).. unlike Omnisphere, which just like a classic hardware rompler, lets you access all the basic building blocks extremely easily and presents them clearly in a searchable, taggable browser.

Falcon just lets you play the preset sounds easily but doesn't make it easy at all to use parts of a preset for your own sounds.

Falcon is an application made by nerds for nerds. EXTREMELY capable but unfortunately in my opinion has horrible usability with no modern UI design elements and absolutely zero f**ks given to people new to synthesizers / samplers in general. If you are new to synthesizers and buy Falcon, you are shit out of luck. If you know what you are doing and can stomach the horrible workflow (this can be objectively proven by simply counting the amount of mouse clicks and moves needed to do some rather basic things) Falcon is absolutely sublime in it's capabilities.

For completeness... reactivating and rescanning put it right back on the blacklist..

it is really easy to save the samples - there is a hamburger menu above the sample oscillator view - it has 'save sample'

You still don't seem to "get it". It's not about saving samples, it's about already having the factory samples available from the get-go.

Examples of synths that have this:

1) Omnisphere
2) VPS Avenger
3) Arturia Pigments
4) Arturia EMU and CMI samplers
5) Korg Wavestate Native
6) Roland, Yamaha and Korg hardware workstations.. ALL of them, ever since the beginning of time

etc.

So the user workflow would be this.

Initialize patch. Browse through the factory content. Start creating your own sounds with factory content.

Pretty sure this is what the person (Chipi) meant with his post and none of you seem to have understood it.

Falcon has been my very first software instrument, when I was starting to learn all this stuff, and got along very well.
I like the interface and find quite easy to understand, especially if you take a read thru the manual and watch few YT tuts.

Another one with objective knowledge... :ud: There are also people complaining that a Yamaha Montage or Korg Kronos don't have the workflow of a Moog.
Falcon's workflow is great, for what it is: a very complex, multi part, multi oscillator synth with infinite modulation and sequencing features.

There is a huge inflation of soft-synths on the market.
Why are people who don't need/want this level of complexity bothering with Falcon? There are tons of options available.

I will probably still be hoping for MIDI out when 7.8 comes out.

chipi / bmanic are spot on

Pretty sure I’ve said it before (probably in this thread), but if UVI gave Falcon a sound source browser like OmniSphere has, that would be INSANE. It would also make their sample-based soundbanks just that much more attractive.

That sound source workflow that romplers have is excellent… couple that with the incredible power of Falcon… holy smokes that would be so cool.

Yeah, I feel the browser and also the way third-party sound banks are handled have some to be improved.

The only thing that REALLY bothers me about Falcon and the Workstation is that they need to mount all the libraries at each start, and I have nearly 100 of them...
