I'm very much out of the loop with the current market for best bang for buck CPU. Currently looking at a Ryzen 5900x paired with a Taichi B550 which I can get both for ~640 GBP. Is that close to the bang for buck sweet spot or is there anything else that I should be considering? Any help much appreciated!

Oh nice, yeah that's looking good, just checked the specs and price, thanks. I'm going to be running a lot of UVI Falcon with its IRCAM samplers, plus a few other CPU hungry instruments and effects, so what would you say is that most important spec in a CPU to be looking at?chk071 wrote: Sat Sep 17, 2022 8:20 pm Also check out the i5-12600K. Great single core performance, which is very important for audio.

I would say the single core performance, as (as far as I know) most plugins or plugin chains in a track will run on a single core, and, when you have enough bang for that, you can run a lot of instances. I would recommend Intel (as they're king in single core performance), but, I assume you'd be fine with that AMD CPU as well.
Here's a benchmark ranking I always use to orientate: https://browser.geekbench.com/processor-benchmarks
It's not the "end it all" indication of what's the best CPU, just a single benchmark, but, it should give you a rough idea.

I never used Falcon and do not know how it behaves, better ask UVI supportnonsuch85 wrote: Sat Sep 17, 2022 8:39 pm Oh nice, yeah that's looking good, just checked the specs and price, thanks.
