Did you ever buy a plugin without having demoed it?
There might be three reasons
You already have plugins from a dev
and like the features and maybe videos and you made an instant buy.
Or it's a plugin you were waiting for to be released some day.
Or there is no trial version available.
I bought Toontrack Superior Drummer 3,
THere is no trial version, well, download files are huge, so I understand.
I didn't regret it, although first I was not overwhelmed, but nice unprocessed natural drums.
TRacks Sunset Sound Studio Reverb
Well, I like Prince quite a lot and Studio 3
IS also called the Prince Studio, I think Purple Rain and 1999 was mixed there,
it was Prince's "home' for months and he also recorded there or added tracks.
Instant buy!
Nice reverb, there's also a good spring reverb, I use it sometimes.

I have done, and regretted it, but nothing expensive tbh. Smaller minor plugins, because if they are shyte, I dont lose much.

I find a lot of demos to be more hassle than they're worth, leaving a mess behind.
iLok protected demos are the worst.

Falcon, very expensive. At the time I thought I'd researched it enough to think it would be a one-stop solution for pretty much everything, and that the price would be justified by all the bases it would cover. Well, it was and wasn't... and unsurprisingly the capacity to rationalise purchases knows no bounds. So, given that Falcon does everything but specialises in not so much, I've since convinced myself to buy more specialised tools that I suppose almost remove the need for a general-purpose tool. Funny how that works.
Every day takes figuring out all over again how to f#ckin’ live.

I bought ImpOSCar 2 without any trial. Used to be that Cubase didn't have demos either and I vaguely remember buying a TDR plugin without demoing it. Oh yeah...I got the Korg Opsix and Wavestate native too. Though it's not quite accurate that I didn't demo them - I already had the hw of both. As already mentioned, sometimes a demo version can be a real PITA, and especially with FX I find the ones with really short sound cutoff make them almost undemoable. iLok - have to get a license and all that crap just for a demo? F-off is my opinion.

Not that I can recall, but, I did some impulse buys after briefly demoing. The plugins usually turned up not or hardly being used. So, it is a bad idea.

Honestly, I tend to decide if I'm going to buy a plugin by watching demo/shootout videos more than installing software demos. Generally, the plugins I get are models of real-world studio gear, so the plugins I'm buying are models of specific gear I want, and I just have to make sure the plugin is reasonably authentic.

All the time, very rarely do I demo, unless I'm stepping out of my comfort zone.
Like for instance Softubes Mutronics Mutator.
The Blurb and associated videos and audio examples are usually enough.
I rarely have buyers remorse, can't remember the last time I did.
I do stay within a select, but still fairly large group of trusted developers.
By the way, I purchased the Mutronics Mutator, love what it can do on guitar tracks

I rarely demo. I mostly go by YouTube reviews and that usually gives me enough info to decide if a plugin is worth the price to me. I can’t think of a plugin that has ever disappointed me using this approach, but I have experienced the opposite, where I’ve held off on buying something because the reviews were so bad, but eventually bought it anyway and realized that it was way better than the reviews had me believing.

I, on the other hand, usually use the demo first if one is available. I like to get into the plugin for same reason others watch youtube demos. I dont mind installing, uninstalling etc. Sometimes I will buy without a demo, especially if there is a 100% refund policy, like Minimal Rift, which I ended up keeping.
