I never buy plugins from devs that don't offer a demo version.
If I remember right, so far I only bought two plugins without demoing first (because both were new versions of existing plugins): Volcano 3 and Phoscyon 2.

Yeah, SD3. That was the most important one I remember. Had EZ2 for years so I had a rough idea from the many YT vids I watched what to expect. Didn't find an alternative so yeah. Don't regret it.

In the past, yes -- I bought Audio Damage stuff. I returned some of it too 
At this point I don't think I would. Maybe for ValhallaDSP -- even if I didn't end up loving it (unlikely) I could consider it as payment for Supermassive
